Meet our new farm vet Jenna.

Jenna is newly qualified from
Nottingham University, moving to us from Yorkshire.

She has seen practice with us several times over the past few years so many of you will have met her already, but she is looking forward to meeting everyone and getting stuck in.

This was Jenna’s first night on call with a successful 3am caesarean.

This dairy heifer got a bit too excited at turn out and attempted to jump a metal fence, didn’t make it and impaled herself leading to large wounds on either side of her chest.

An artery was ruptured on her left side which was tied off when the vet arrived. We always recommend with any heavily bleeding animal on farm to apply firm pressure to the bleed and ring the vet ASAP.

The heifer was heavily sedated, the wounds clipped and cleaned, then many stitches were placed. The cow was also given pain relief and antibiotics.

This heifer has made an amazing recovery and really demonstrates how amazing cows are at healing.

Arkgaurd is a new product designed to help prevent watery mouth in lambs.

The product is a concentrated solution of protective immunoglobulins which line the newborns intestinal tract.

Each bottle doses approximately 40 lambs and needs to be given as soon after birth as possible.

Note - The product is designed to help prevent cases in combination with good hygiene, not treat clinical cases.
