My name is Emma Johnson, I am a registered and qualified veterinary nurse with over 24 years of experience. Most recently working for 10 years as head nurse for Fitzpatrick referrals an orthopaedic and neurology veterinary hospital, managing a team of 80 veterinary nurses and auxilliarys and overseeing the care of over 60 patients at a time. I decided i wanted to start my own business caring for a
nimals on a day to day basis and in October 2015 I started Wentworth Retreat. I have gained a number of qualifications and experience making me highly regarded as a veterinary professional. I began pursuing a career in veterinary nursing in general practice 21 years ago in 1996. During this time I have developed nursing interests in a variety of disciplines. This included anaesthesia, pain management and post-operative care in small animals. In 2001 I qualified as a veterinary nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and went on to successfully gain my assessor qualification. This gave me the opportunity to support and guide undergraduate veterinary nurses of the future during their three year training programme. I continue to pursue my own professional development and in 2008 was awarded the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons 'Advanced nursing diploma in medical nursing' and further went on to gain the 'Royal Veterinary College Graduate Diploma in Professional and Clinical Veterinary Nursing' in 2012. I completed a grooming diploma in 2018 and 2021 completed an advanced behaviour diploma. In 2023 I completed a graduate diploma in veterinary physiotherapy. My passion to develop my own and my team of nurses’ skills and training and promote the awareness of the Registered Veterinary Nurse status within the veterinary profession overall led to my appointment in 2014 as a regional coordinator for veterinary nurse training in Surrey with the British Veterinary Nursing Association. I fulfilled the requirements of this role voluntarily and dedicated my own personal time. licence number 36642
