Puppy Socialisation has many elements and can be started at home while your puppy is still very young then progress to the outside world too.

Socialising for Puppies is often thought of as just puppies meeting lots of other puppies and playing but that is just one small element.

All kinds of sights, smells, the sound of people, machinery etc, walking on different surfaces, navigating obstacles etc are all part of Puppy Socialisation.

Let's talk about Mushrooms! Specifically Mushroom Supplements for Dogs and their awesome health benefits!!

How I help my dogs and other pets to feel comfortable when we have summer weather using Herbs!

I have been interested In Zoopharmacognosy (self selection) for many years as it allows dogs to select what they need, not be given what people believe their dog needs.

I have herbs growing in my garden as well as putting herbs out in bowls for my dogs to sniff, taste, roll on - whatever they feel they need! I don't add these to their food as they might not need them all plus Ripley has such a small size meal she would have mostly herbs lol!

As an example; when Ripley was entire during her seasons she would select Rose Hydrol, which happens to be anti inflammatory as well as naturally cooling. Makes sense as being in season causes discomfort in the body and to feel warmer. I also noticed she would lay under our rose bush, no matter the time of year, during her seasons.

Since being spayed age 3 she's never lay under or near our rose bush at all and as yet she hasn't selected Rose Hydrosol, although has selected other things.

How to take baseline measurements of your dog's movement for your own records and also to help with diagnosis or treatment options with your vet, physio, conditioning trainer etc.

Taking videos of your dog moving from their height monthly, fortnightly etc really helps to get an idea of how they naturally move which helps highlight a new issue if it occurs, while having videos for dog professionals to look at help show a particular movement - what we see may be different to what a physio sees for example.

As a Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer I'm constantly watching the dogs I work with - I'm told by owners that they are really reassured as they know I'll point anything different out to them which can prevent a mild change turning into a big issue!

If you're needing to skip a walk due to heat in coming weeks why not film your dog moving around the garden or house naturally and watch it back - slow motion gives the most information.
