Django chilling in one of our kidney dishes, post-GA and dental.
At just 1kg, 10 year old Django is one of our smallest patients- with the biggest attitude. He also lives with a staff member so he knows he can boss us all around and give us some sass.

Another heat wave is on its way . Keeping your pet cool and out of the heat prevents heatstroke but if you suspect your pet is suffering from heat stroke do the below:

💧💦 "Get them wet, and off to the vet" 💦💧
This phrase is a reminder for pet owners to immediately cool down an overheated animal with water and then seek veterinary care. This approach is crucial for pets suffering from heatstroke, as prompt cooling can be life-saving.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Cooling the Animal:
💦Water:
Use cool (not ice-cold) water to douse the animal's body. This helps lower their temperature through evaporation.
Immersion:
If possible, you can immerse the animal in a shallow pool or tub of cool water.
Avoid Ice:
Do not use ice or ice-cold water directly on the animal, as this can cause shock.
👀2. Seeking Veterinary Care:
Heatstroke is an emergency: Heatstroke can be fatal, so prompt veterinary attention is essential.
Transport: Get the animal to the vet as quickly as possible, preferably in an air-conditioned car.
Do NOT wrap in water soaked towels as this can trap in more heat.
🥶3. Why this approach?
Rapid cooling:
Cooling the animal down quickly is vital to prevent further damage from the heat.

This brave boy is Alfie.
At first, we suspected an adder bite when Alfie came in with a swollen and sore paw.
But when we anaesthetised him to examine and treat the wound, Ellie went on a little journey into the wound and retrieved this very long thorn!
OUCH!
Alfie is now healing and getting back to being a normal crazy springer again.
We love him- he is constantly rolling on his back for belly rubs and he gives the best kisses!

Well done sweetheart!
