REHOMED

‼️No need to telephone, you need to attend the kennels to rehome. All information contained in this post

🐶Sven is a male chihuahua who is 9 years old. House/lead/car trained. Vaccinated, no certificate provided but vet details given, booster up to date. Good with kids and other dogs but came from a quieter home with an older couple so we are looking for a quieter home with no young kids as he can be timid until he gets to know you. Sven was Rehomed by ourselves last year and sadly his new owner has suffered on-going ill health which has forced him to give up Sven.

🐶How do I rehome?
-We open 10am-1pm weekdays, 10am-12pm Saturday and closed Sundays.
***Bank holidays 10am-12pm
-You need to attend the kennels to rehome, we DO NOT reserve.
-There may be visitors waiting from before opening.
-Visitors will chose their dog in order of arrival (provided they have valid photo ID and we feel they are suitable).
-Visitors do not need to stand at the gate of the kennels, they are welcome to wait in their car and staff will be available from early morning to speak to them.

Rehoming fee for adults is £80.
Rehoming fee for puppies is £120.

A dog licence must also be applied for (we do this at the time of rehoming) licence free for over 65s with no other dogs, £5 for those on benefits or £12.50.

Kennels are situated at 40 Tobercorran Road, Downpatrick BT30 8HU

————————————————————————-

**We are a council dog pound and we work very hard to do the best for dogs in our care despite limited funding**

**Home Checks**
We do not complete home checks as there is no funding or resources provided for this. If we are concerned about a particular person or dog we can ask the dog warden to complete a home check prior to rehoming but there is no capacity for the dog warden to complete a large volume of these as they have their normal workload and duties.
ID is taken from each person wishing to rehome a dog, the dog is then microchipped and licenced to the person supplying ID.
We have been doing this for 23 years, we DO NOT just hand a dog out to someone who isn’t suitable even if they are the first person there, many visitors are guided and even refused where necessary when they are unsuitable for a particular dog.

**Spaying/neutering**
We complete spays/neuters when we are provided with funding to do so. This has kindly been provided by Dogs Trust in recent years. When dogs are spayed/neutered under our care they can be rehomed immediately unless our vet advises to hold them due to medical issues. The scheme is not perfect but it has allowed many dogs to be spayed/neutered that otherwise wouldn’t of been and from that perspective it has been a massive success. We feel many dogs recover better in a home than in kennels and for this reason do not hold dogs longer than necessary.

❗️**Facebook comments**❗️
Derogatory comments made against the kennels and/or their processes/policies will not be tolerated. We do the best we can in a very challenging environment and DO NOT have the time to debate with commenters on Facebook about the reasons we do things the way we do especially when they can’t even take time to read the page to establish we are a dog pound. Therefore any derogatory comments around home checks, spaying, etc. will result in the user facing a permanent ban from the page.

Snowy
Female
4 1/2 Months
Boxer x Springer

Snowy was recently surrendered due to difficulties in the relationship with the other dog in the home.
Snowy is quite a sociable little dog though and would probably enjoy the company of another dog. In addition Snowy is deaf so can probably gain a lot from having a hearing dog live with her.
Obviously Snowy is still a little pup so will not be old enough for spaying upon adoption, therefore any male dogs in the household will have to be already neutered.

🐶Puppies can be hard work, remember this, it's easy to see the cute ball of fluff and make a bad decision, (we call it puppy fever).
Snowy will obviously need to someone with the time and experience to meet all of her training/socialisation needs.
Please meet the below criteria before you apply-
Discuss and agree with the other adults in the home that you wish to adopt a puppy, if often takes more than one persons effort to make things work.
Be in a position where Snowy would not be left alone for long periods of time. Puppy bladders are weak and toilet training is only possible when they get out to toilet regularly.
Any male dogs in your household will already be neutered. (Snowy will obviously not be old enough for spaying upon adoption)
Be willing to attend puppy classes, there is evidence to suggest benefits to attending.
The cost of attending the classes will be covered by your increased puppy adoption fee of £280
If you are being invited for a meet you will likely receive a phone call within the next day or so. (Mon/Tues)

Snowy could live with children of any age with a sensible approach to dogs

Fiadh
Saluki/Lurcher X
Female
5 years old

This beautiful lady came to us a few weeks ago as an unclaimed stray from a pound. She was very shut down to the world around her and it has taken a lot of time and patience to get her to feel somewhat comfortable around us. She still has a long way to go but we see more and more of her beautiful personality as the days go by.

Fiadh will need a quiet and understanding new home where she can continue to build her confidence and will require a well enclosed garden.

Fiadh would be best suited to a quiet, adult only home as she can be so easily spooked. She could live with another Dog after successful meet and greets although, small Dogs, Cats and other small furries would not be suitable for her to be around.

🌟ONLINE APPLICATIONS AND OPEN FOR VIEWING SATURDAY & WEDNESDAY FROM 1.30-4PM🌟
If you are interested in offering this dog a home and you meet the criteria listed, then please click on the following link to complete an online application or visit us during the above days and times.

UPDATE. OWNER IDENTIFIED AND LITTLE ‘BUTTONS’ RETURNED HOME ❤️

UNIDENTIFIED
COLLIE BITCH
---------‐-------------------------
At 3pm today liver and white coloured Collie bitch came into our yard, clean fit and healthy. I would estimate her to be around 2 years old (See Pictures attached).
She is a very pleasant and obedient wee girl.
We scanned her and have the chip number. Investigations via vets show no known owners details. Local checks have not identified her to date.
We have fed her and bedded her down for the night. We will advise the Antrim Dog Warden in the morning. If anyone can assist in identifying this little lady please contact Matt on 07923344117 . Please share if you can. Thank You.

Please keep an eye out for this wee pet

Benny 💙

This beautiful boy is Benny, a 5 month old cocker spaniel cross poodle (cockapoo.)

Benny is the sweetest boy, a little shy until he knows you.

Benny didn't have the best start in life and due to this alot of things are scary for him.

Benny lacks confidence in all things new but with lots of reassurance this will grow.

Benny is learning to walk on lead but needs encouragement, small steps will become giant leaps as his confidence develops.

Benny will need his house training continued as he is not quite there but has made great progress with this and has very few accidents.

Benny would really benefit from the company of another young, confident dog to help him learn and grow.

Socialisation classes would be a great way to boost this little boys confidence.

Benny could live with dog savvy kids 5 years and over.

Benny is currently too young to be neutered so therefore cannot be rehomed with an unspayed female in his new home.

If you can offer Benny his forever home please PM the page

Please note
✅Rehoming fee and homecheck applies
✅No children under the age of 5 in the household
✅Benny must return to a CIN approved vet to be neutered when old enough
✅You must be prepared to visit Benny in his foster home at least twice
✅Benny is in foster in Northern Ireland

Toby 💙

Meet Toby, an affectionate and loyal 3 year old neutered beagle, who is eagerly waiting for his forever home.

Toby is not just a dog; he's a bundle of love wrapped in a sable and white coloured coat with a heart as big as his soulful brown eyes.

Toby is the perfect companion for an active family or an individual who enjoys outdoor adventures.

Toby is not just a fitness enthusiast; he's also a quick learner, making him an ideal candidate for those who enjoy teaching tricks or participating in obedience training.

His gentle nature, almost prance like, happy strut and friendly demeanour which extends to all family members including dogs & cats, making him a great addition to a multi pet household.
He’s always ready to greet new friends with a wag & a good sniff.

In true beagle fashion, he is a master sniffer who wants to investigate every single inch of your home at least 20 times. If he finds something he likes, off he goes with it to his crate.

Don't be fooled by his energetic side; Toby also knows how to relax. He's a cuddle expert, and his calming presence makes him an excellent Netflix buddy after a day filled with adventures. Toby is working hard on his house training and knows basic commands, showcasing his eagerness to please.

We are working on some separation anxiety when us humans are out of sight. This will need to be continued to be worked on in his new home. He will settle in his crate and sleeps through the night well.

This incredible canine companion is neutered, microchipped, flea treated and wormed, ready to embark on a new chapter of his life with a loving family. If you're looking for a loyal friend who brings joy, laughter, and endless love into your home, Toby is the perfect match.

Adopt Toby and make every day an adventure!

Please note
✅Rehoming fee and homecheck applies
✅No children under the age of 8 in the household (he can become overwhelmed with younger children and hide away)
✅You must be prepared to visit Toby in his foster home at least twice
