What are we up to?
In Wally's Pet Supplies Andover, there will be 3 search areas to complete and detect the 'drugs' (aka kong)

📞Naughty receptionists
🐦Birds high as a kite

There will be X amount of 'drugs' per search area, you have 2 minutes per search area (or if you feel you have completed that area, we stop the time!)

Mantrailers last night took to the town to track and find their 'missing' people 🌇
One of the most difficult locations to track, full of various smells and distractions! And all concrete. It was incredible to watch them all use the environment to the best of their abilities, clinging to where scent trapped (walls, poles, little cracks in the ground brick work)

They all did amazing 👏

Marvellous Monday Morning with adventurers Boris, Loki, Atlas, Willow, Luna and Maisie ❤️🐕🌟

We had a great time exploring open fields and getting soggy in the fresh puddles!
All cleaned down and smelling of Baby Powder Paw-fume 🫶

Epic evening all about UK Sniffer Dogs Continuation, first up our Intermed-Advanced group
Unfortunately a couple of our pups were on holiday so we had super stars Bramble, Milly and Finch staring 🌟🫶
They were introduced to Multi scent soaked retrievals (the items are soaked in a particular scent which the dogs sniff out, pick up and bring back!), part of what they would need to do in their GOLD trial!
Retrieving not only 2 but 3 different objects, fabric, wood and plastic (plastic being the hardest as the scent soak doesn't hold very well on plastic!)

The final part was detecting another Gold scent in various searches and proofing the detection of odour in various objects such as jeans, shoes, toys, books, chairs and SOCKS

All the teams did incredible with flawless indication and confident independent searches 🐶🌟❤️🌟🐶

BRILLANT Morning Mantrailing 🌟🫶
This time the teams were introduced to urban trails; concrete and crossing roads! 😄making the trail even more challenging!

Team Molly Mop showed off how CLEVER she really is and challenged her to find not one but two 'hiders' (aka missing people), along the trail she took a short cut and passed her second hider who she wasn't seeking at the time, and carried on rescuing her first hider before swiftly moving on to go back and rescue the second one! 😲😲👌😍😍

Team Peanut was challenged by crossing not one butt two roads, making the trail harder to track but that didn't stop her one bit and she found her hider with speed and efficiency 💜

Team General was his first Progression session after completing his workshop and my goodness what a clever fluffy boy he is! He not only completed a blind search in a new location with NEW people but did it with various distractions, crossing a road and PURE CONFIDENCE 'She's this way mum, follow me! I don't need you to help me!' 👏

Team Dougal is absolutely flourishing with confidence, months ago Dougal would react to dogs half a field away (or more) as well as people who entered his space too quickly, but now he processes, looks, carry on with ease and even tail wags finding his new hider! He also never used to pull and often needed some reassurance from his guardian, but not anymore! He's on a mission and full speed ahead! 😍I'm so proud of you! 💜

Wednesday evening Bonnie and Bramble Mantrailing superstars were introduced to something EPIC..

Search and RESCUE!

The girls had to track down and find their 'missing person that needed to be rescued' OFF LEAD

Why off lead?

To note, not all mantrailing dogs can be off lead. In some special cases, 'real life' rescue dogs, the dogs are off lead for many reasons, for example; the scent moving therefore the dog with it in order to track the person, may not be possible for the rescuer to keep hold of the dog (uneven terrain, other)
The dog would then find their missing person, and either alert by barking, or in this case track down, go back to their handlers and signal that they had found their person, the handlers would then put them on a lead and ask them to show them. The dog would then find a more direct route to the missing person to be rescued.

It was epic watching Bonnie and Bramble build confidence in the sport and themselves in finding the person that needed 'rescuing', how much scent moves and allowing them to use their incredible nose even more!

Atlas our sitting client also joined the girls as we introduced him into the game of trailing ❤️

DID YOU KNOW that if we were to put a dogs powerful nose and our own sense of smell in to the equivalent of eye sight
Humans can 'see' about 3rd of a mile away
Dogs can 'see' from here to NEW YORK CITY

THATS HOW POWERFUL THEIR NOSES ARE!!
