We hope you all have a great long weekend. Hopefully the weather will be good and you and your dog will enjoy the outdoors. Check out some of the dangers that are out there for our dogs.

Spring poses risks to dogs, including: bites from ticks and adders, as well as poisons in the form of flowers, w**d killers or slug bait.

Please be aware of a change in the law…

| Changes to the law on dogs & livestock. 🚨

From today, new rules and tougher penalties are in force to better protect farm animals and support rural communities.

It is now an offence if a dog:

• Worries or attacks livestock
• Chases, stalks, or frightens livestock
• Causes stress, injury, death, miscarriage

A dog does NOT need to bite or make physical contact for an offence to be committed.

These protections apply on farmland and on public paths or roads where livestock are present.

Under the updated law, police now have powers to:
• Seize dogs involved in livestock worrying
• Enter premises with a warrant
• Obtain DNA and other evidence
• Recover costs from offenders
• Issue unlimited fines through the courts

As a dog owner, you need to:
• Keep your dog under effective control - we recommend a short lead near livestock.
• If cattle start chasing you, the safest action is to let go of the lead. Dogs can usually run much faster than cattle and escape.

Please share this post and help your dog, and other animals.

What a fun evening was had at our Christmas parties! 9 puppies at the first party and 15 adult dogs later - what could possibly go wrong?

Organised games played included musical mats, musical chairs and recalls past food. Spontaneous games included tug-of-war (see pics!). As always the humans were very competitive, but despite the odd bump and fall we’re not aware of any casualties.

There was Secret Santa for the doggies and refreshments for the humans.

We had a new and nearly new table and two handmade items for silent auction (the two items raised £65.50). The most beautiful moment was 15 dogs doing a stay in absolute silence 🤫.

We raised £182.70 for charity, the recipient to be chosen in January.

We wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year🎄🧑‍🎄 🐶

Classes resume 5 January

It's worth a read.

Be aware of autumn seasonal dangers that could be harmful to your dog, such as poisonous acorns, conkers and toxic toadstools.
