Rocky had a big training day yesterday! He hates kids and the market training with kids everywhere is the best place for him. He’s a wheelbarrow wheel attacker! And is frightened of the horses so instantly goes into flight or fight mode, not helpful as we don’t like vet bills. A day done right! He’s winning. Next stop beer garden

Pub training tonight 🍻 bring them something exciting! A ball some chicken just anything we can use to reward them, also using it for engagement. If your dog is a bit of an arse with resource guarding still bring it but I’ll train them if we have a problem around you 🐶 6.30pm

Puppy training 🐶

I have had a lot of enquiries for this so if you want it let me know and I’ll do a class a week!

However be aware don’t expect miracles 😅 half
Of them will be asleep and the other half doing whatever they like.

But what I can say is this! Puppy training is boring! They fall asleep and switch off!
(It’s better as they age☺️)
It’s relentless
It’s more us talking than the dogs doing!

But with the truth set aside as I don’t sell something that’s not real!

What you and your puppy will receive is this

Manners ✅
Good obedience ✅
Life skills that will last a lifetime ✅
Life saving skills ✅
Lead walking ✅
Socialisation with horses, bikes etc
With the more dog attacks around horses and livestock I think this is what’s needed. 🐴

You will have a dog that’s a pleasure to take out in public ✅

You will be proud to own the dog you have ✅

We will also take them to the pub! But we will also learn to advocate for our dogs and not allow everybody to touch them. You got to trust me on this one 😅

All you have to do is trust the process!
But and there is a big but! You must be invested in looking past how cute your puppy is and see what’s coming if you don’t put the work in.

They must of had their 2nd vaccination and had a 2 week incubation period if they have had kennel cough.

Max age 5 months for this! Adolescence teenagers class coming next.

We are going to the pub 🍻
Small groups of 6 so we can train within the setting! A walk round amble harbour focusing on lead walking and then finishing off with a pint and working towards politeness for the dogs! Let’s get summer ready 🤩 kicking off next Monday! Let’s drown away the Monday blues and enjoy a night of dogs!
Choice of bar will be the schooner

A little food for thought 💭

Seeing some reactions from past training sessions at home and out and about. A lot of the worst dogs Iv worked with the owners tend to come with a lot of snacks!

From the dogs point of view they don’t want anyone getting near the jackpot that’s hiding in your pouch! There is simply a time and a place for snacks when the dogs are in theory resource guarding you/treats.

Go out and try with no food and using verbal praise instead.

You will find your dog will enjoy the verbal praise far more and your engagement means more to them than ramming food into it. Don’t mix business and pleasure! And when the dog is out training with you it is “working for you”

Don’t confuse a “walk” with “training”

Food should be used to mould and shape movements, it should not be used for just ramming food in to the gob to shut the dog up as a distraction.

Resource guarding does not always mean toys or something they should not have.

Be kind always and enjoy them

Go try it 🐶
