A friend of mine's father-in-law passed away a few days ago and they will need to re-home his 6 year old Westie called Misty. Unfortunately none of the family can keep her permanently due to working full time. She is 6 years old, able to be left for 2-3 hours, no known issues & nice natured. If anyone is interested then private message me, thanks Clare & Chester

FINALLY, notification that from Monday 29th March, Dog Groomers can operate normally!!

******DEFRA have now confirmed that pet groomers may operate normal appointments, albeit with the usual Covid-secure handover protocols and hygiene procedures, from Monday 29 March*******

Chester and I will see you all for your pre booked appointments 😁

15/03/2021

I hope everyone is surviving this extremely long lockdown with their sanity!!

I have only just received an update from The Pet Industry who were waiting on DEFRA for updated guidance. This is as follows:

Step 1, 29th March

• Government have not yet provided revised guidance for groomers. We propose welfare grooming only as is the current protocol until further information is available

Step 2, 12th April

• Grooming should follow guidance for non-essential retail (more information to come in due course)

I am aware people have already missed 1 or maybe 2 appointments, so unless I’ve already been in touch regarding your next appointment, from 29th March I will be messaging each of your individually as and when your appointment arises to discuss.

Thanks and take care everyone.

Clare

UPDATE: I have received an email from the Pet Industry Federation advising that the government have tightened the guidelines of which we can continue grooming.

In short, unless the dog has been referred by a vet with a skin complaint or is excessively matted or uncomfortable, any grooming has to wait until lockdown has been lifted. I am therefore closed & No grooms will go ahead with immediate effect.

If at any point during this lockdown you feel your dog is suffering as a result then please message me to discuss. However, if I groom any dogs in this lockdown period I have been advised I may have to justify why this groom went ahead and you as to why you travelled here.

As this could be the case until at least March it is now down to you to keep your dogs brushed, comfortable and as knot free as possible.

I am always available to give help and advice so please private message me anytime should you have any questions or concerns.

Please stay safe everyone and I will look forward to seeing you all when we have the virus more under control and it’s safe to re-emerge!

Hello again everyone 👋

After Boris’s lockdown announcement last night I have been trying to decide whether to stay open or not.

Under the government guidelines for groomers we are allowed to stay open for ‘’welfare’ grooms only but this is open to interpretation. To my mind I groom to prevent it becoming a welfare situation but some might interpret it to mean a severely matted dog who could be in pain/discomfort or nails growing in their pads etc

During November’s lockdown I was happy to stay open, it was a little more lenient than our first lockdown in March with schools still being open, unlimited exercise etc but this time it’s a complete lockdown so I find myself wondering whether morally I should close to discourage people leaving their homes to travel to me 🤔

As this new variant is extremely contagious and we live in a very high risk area I have decided that I will go ahead with the more urgent grooms only. For those who come every 4-6 weeks you may be asked to miss an appointment but for those who come every 10-12 weeks and are due during this lockdown then they will most likely go ahead. Either way I will take each day as it comes and message each customer individually as their appointment arises to discuss with them directly.

In the meantime, keep safe everyone and hopefully see you all very soon.

Many thanks

Clare & Chester

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas & enjoying the break. Just a quick message to say that even though I am now in Tier 4, according to the government website, groomers are allowed to open for welfare grooms and as every groom is for their welfare I will be reopening on Monday 4th January.

That said, it is of course entirely up to each individual whether they are comfortable bringing their dogs to me. If you are I’ll see you at your next appointment & for those who aren’t then I completely understand but please just private message me.

Enjoy the rest of the break, keep safe & hope to see you all soon.

Just a quick update to say that I have now reopened. We are allowed to open for welfare grooms so as grooming is carried out for this exact reason it’s business as usual. However following the government guidelines during lockdown no one will be allowed in the cabin and the normal social distancing will be in place. I look forward to seeing you on your next booked appointment. Clare & Chester

UPDATE: my partner Elton has tested positive for Covid and although feeling much better now we both have to isolate until the end of next week.

Any appointments booked in for next week won’t be going ahead but please message me direct with any questions/concerns. Beyond that it seems decisions are split as to whether groomers should be open or not so I will use this time to make a decision as to whether or not I will open when I can and let you all know soon as I can.

In the meantime keep safe during lockdown and more importantly your spirits up!

To all my customers, I’ve had quite a few messages from people asking whether I’m remaining open from Thursday and the answer is I don’t know at the moment. I am waiting for a call back from the Pet Industry Federation to advise whether we are allowed to open therefore insured to do so. I will let you know as soon as I’ve heard back. Thanks Clare & Chester

Hi everyone, I hope you have all managed to stay safe and are well. Just to say that things are pretty much running as normal now so whatever appointment you have booked will be going ahead so I’ll see all at some point. Have good weekend, Clare & Chester 🐶

TO ALL MY CUSTOMERS

From Monday 18th I am going to partially re open. I say partially as I won’t be able to do my full quota of dogs booked each day. This is due to increased cleaning between each dog I need to carry out to prevent the spread of the virus should it be sat on the dogs coat. Added to this most dogs have missed 1 or 2 appointments so will take longer.

I will take each week as it comes so if you have an appointment next week I will be contacting each individual today and tomorrow to confirm whether appointment still going ahead and the time/day as this may have to be tweaked.

I will try my best to accommodate people but there is only one of me and I have to ensure everyone is as safe as possible. For those of you who have had a go at grooming your own dog and feel they can wait for their next appointment then please message me.

For those who have already missed an appointment and aren’t due for a while and are worried for their dogs well being then please also message me.

Think social distancing goes without saying so for those of you who usually stay and help me with their dogs this will be a problem so we will discuss this between us for best solution.

I would also ask that everyone pays by bank transfer, if this is a problem again we can discuss between us.

Have good weekend everyone, enjoy the sun and message me if any concerns.

Love

Clare & Chester

To all my customers, I hope you are all keeping well and managing to make use of this time that we all have on hands!

Just an update really following Boris’s clear as mud speech last night!! I am still closed for the moment. Im still unsure whether people can leave the house to bring dogs to me whether that’s by car or on foot, hopefully he will clarify in tonight’s update. I’m also waiting to hear from the Pet Industry Federation who are meeting today, to see what they advise and also when I’m legally insured to reopen.

Also, as we now know that dogs can carry the virus on their coat, I will be putting thorough cleaning measures in place between each groom, added to this the fact each dog will
Take longer as over due I will only be able to groom a few dogs a day when I do re open.

I appreciate there are a lot of over grown dogs out there, some, who were due just after lockdown have now missed 2 appointments. I may ask a few of these more desperate ones to come in first and ask others to wait a little longer if possible but would ask for you all to just bear with me in these strange times.

I will let you know when I am reopen and as your appointments come up I’ll be messaging you individually to confirm whether ok to come in and whether timings have had to be tweaked.

Any worries or concerns please message me.

Take care and keep safe.

Clare & Chester
