Every day, Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs) provide trusted advice on parasite control, worming, flea & tick medicines, nutrition and much more — helping keep your pets, horses and livestock healthy.

Yet many people do not realise the depth of training and expertise behind the SQP role. SQPs are highly qualified professionals, dedicated to helping owners make the best health and welfare choices for their animals.

That’s exactly why National SQP Week has been launched — to celebrate and recognise their contribution.

Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs – also known as Animal Medicines Advisors) supporting responsible animal medicine use and promoting better welfare. To achieve SQP status, individuals must complete an accredited qualification and then ongoing CPD to remain registered. To achieve this accreditation, a lot of time, commitment and hard-work is applied by the candidate so that they can prescribe and supply certain animal medicines.

National SQP Week (5–12 June 2026) is a chance to highlight the trusted, knowledgeable advice SQPs provide every day.

Support the week, spread the word, and help more owners benefit from SQP expertise.

With the current heat wave we’re in and summer round the corner, it’s important to make sure we’re keeping our 4-legged friends cool 🧊. Here’s some top tips to help them beat the heat:

🔥Make sure they have constant access to fresh water
🔥Ensure there is ample amounts of shade
🔥Keep them inside during the hottest part of the day and turn out in the evenings/early mornings
🔥Ride during the cooler hours of the day
🔥Consider use of fans to improve airflow in stables
🔥Sun protection - horses with pink skin are prone to sunburn

If you have any questions about keeping your horse cool, call us on 01442 851921 to speak to a member of our team

We offer a 5% prompt payment discount (PPD) for any invoice paid at the time of a visit or by the end of the following working day.

Here are some important T&Cs to note:

1️⃣ The 5% discount is valid on all products, services and lab fees (this does not include packages as they are already at a discounted price)
2️⃣ In order to benefit from the discount, clients must pay the discounted amount in full either at the time of the visit or by the end of the following working day
3️⃣ The vets are able to take card payments on yards but, if for any reason this is not possible, please call the office and we will be able to take a payment over the phone or direct you towards other methods of payment
4️⃣ The responsibility for benefiting from the discount lies solely with the client; if you are expecting to receive an invoice but have not yet received it and wish to benefit from the discount, please call the office within the next working day of your appointment
5️⃣ Discounts will not be applied automatically at the mid-month and end-of-month invoice runs
6️⃣ Clients whose account status is “pay at time” or “emergencies only” are not eligible for the discount

If you have any questions regarding the PDD scheme, please do not hesitate to contact the practice on 01442 851921.
