⚽🏆 LCA DOGGY WORLD CUP - DAY 1 RESULTS 🏆⚽

After a highly competitive opening day, we're pleased to announce that the current league leaders are...

Both teams are currently tied at the top of the table after impressing the judges with their manners, teamwork and ability to make good choices throughout the day.

There were some strong performances from the other teams too, but with the tournament only just underway, it's still all to play for.

Today's scoring included:

⚽ Arrival & Settle
⚽ Manners
⚽ Team Player
⚽ Daily Challenge
⚽ StillDepth® Score

Today's Daily Challenge was a **30-second Sit Stay**.

Some competitors demonstrated excellent focus and self-control. Others appeared to believe the challenge was actually a 3-second sit stay followed by a vigorous investigation of the nearest distraction.

The dogs were also informed that attempting to influence the judges with excessive cuteness would not result in additional points.

Unfortunately, today's competition came to an early finish when FIFA officials Marcia and Sophie had to leave work early to attend an awards ceremony.

Thankfully Auntie Laura was drafted in as emergency cover and ensured the tournament continued without any major incidents, match-fixing allegations or pitch invasions.

There will be no fixtures tomorrow as the FIFA officials are expected to be nursing hangovers and have taken the unusual decision to schedule a rare daycare closure.

The tournament will resume next week when the officials have recovered, VAR has been recalibrated and the dogs have finished arguing about today's results.

For now, Morocco and Uruguay sit proudly at the top of the table.

⚽🏆 THE LCA DOGGY WORLD CUP STARTS TODAY! 🏆⚽

The teams have been drawn, the flags are flying and the competition officially begins today.

Over the next few weeks, our daycare dogs will be competing for the coveted LCA Doggy World Cup Trophy, with points being awarded throughout their daycare adventures.

Before anyone starts accusing the judges of corruption, here’s how the scoring works…

Each dog can earn points in five key areas:

⚽ Arrival & Settle
How calmly they arrive and transition into the daycare environment.

⚽ Manners
Polite greetings, waiting at gates, making good choices and general doggy etiquette.

⚽ Team Player
How well they interact with their fellow teammates throughout the day.

⚽ Challenge of the Day
This could be recall, loose lead walking, a sniffing challenge, enrichment task or something completely different.

⚽ StillDepth® Score
Perhaps the most important category of all. Can they relax, regulate, switch off and embrace the art of doing absolutely nothing?

To keep things fair, scores will be averaged across the tournament. This means dogs attending once a week have exactly the same chance of winning as those attending five days a week.

Throughout the tournament we’ll be sharing league tables, player highlights, challenge results and plenty of behind-the-scenes action.

⚽THE DRAW HAS BEEN MADE! 🏆

The LCA Doggy World Cup doesn’t officially kick off until Thursday…

However, after receiving what can only be described as an alarming number of enquiries from highly competitive daycare owners demanding to know which country their dog has been allocated, we’ve decided to release the draw early.

Seriously. Some of you are more invested in this than the dogs.

Representing their countries this year we have:

Any ad hoc daycare dogs joining us throughout the tournament will be allocated a country when they arrive and can jump straight into the competition.

Before the complaints start…

It doesn’t matter whether your dog attends daycare once a week or five days a week. We’ll be averaging scores throughout the tournament so every dog has an equal chance of lifting the trophy.

Points will be awarded for:

⚽ Recall skills
⚽ Loose lead walking
⚽ Sniffing challenges
⚽ Enrichment games
⚽ Polite manners
⚽ Settling and relaxation

Because this is Lancashire Canine Academy, we’re not looking for the dog that can run the fastest, bark the loudest or create the most chaos.

We’re looking for dogs that make good choices, show good manners and embrace the StillDepth® way of life.

And finally, Ember has been ruled out of the competition due to a conflict of interest and will instead be assisting the judging panel throughout the tournament. Whilst she claims this is a position of great responsibility, we suspect it mostly involves lying on a bed and accepting treats from competitors.

One final thing… calmness starts before your dog even enters the building. We will be scoring dogs on their arrival and drop-off behaviour too, so owners, make sure you bring your A-game. There may be a few points won or lost before we’ve even unclipped a lead. 😆

⚽🏆 The LCA Doggy World Cup is coming! 🏆⚽

Starting this Thursday, our daycare dogs will be taking part in the very first LCA Doggy World Cup, running right through to the Friday before the World Cup Final.

Each dog will be allocated a country and over the coming weeks they’ll compete for points in a series of fun challenges.

Don’t worry, there won’t be any slide tackles, VAR disputes or dogs chasing footballs around the playground.

Points will be awarded for things such as:

⚽ Recall skills
⚽ Loose lead walking
⚽ Sniffing challenges
⚽ Enrichment games
⚽ Polite manners
⚽ Settling and relaxation

We’ll be keeping a running league table and sharing updates throughout the tournament so owners can follow their dog’s progress.

And before anyone asks… it doesn’t matter whether your dog attends daycare once a week or five days a week. We’ll be averaging scores across the tournament to keep things fair for everyone.

Because at Lancashire Canine Academy, we’re not just looking for the fastest or most energetic dogs.

The ultimate prize will go to the team that demonstrates the best combination of good manners, calmness, teamwork and regulation.

In true StillDepth® fashion, being able to switch off is just as important as being able to switch on.

Two weeks of Chris… and what a holiday it’s been! 🖤🤍

Tomorrow Chris heads home after spending the last fortnight with us, and I have to admit, I’m going to miss this little man.

At just 5 months old, he arrived, took everything in his stride and threw himself into every adventure that came his way. New people, new dogs, swimming, woodland walks, fields, hotel life… nothing seemed to faze him.

People often ask what it’s like for dogs staying at our hotel, and honestly, for many of them it’s like going on their own little holiday. New friends, daily adventures, plenty of enrichment, lots of fuss and a whole team dedicated to making sure they have the best time possible.

Chris certainly embraced the holiday spirit.

In just two weeks he’s:

✔️ Rolled in a dead pigeon
✔️ Rolled in a dead squirrel
✔️ Eaten a dead baby rat before I could prize it out of his jaws 🤢
✔️ Tripped me up twice with that bloody long line
✔️ Been swimming
✔️ Met the rest of the Collie crew
✔️ Had the absolute time of his life

He reminds me so much of Stanley as a puppy. That classic farm-bred Collie personality. Completely aloof, fiercely independent and always looking for his next adventure, whether I approved of it or not.

Ember has absolutely loved playing surrogate big sister, showing him the ropes and joining him on plenty of mischief along the way.

He’s been completely feral at times, but what a character. The kind of dog that has you laughing one minute and wondering what on earth he’s got in his mouth the next.

Safe travels home tomorrow, Chris. Thank you for keeping us entertained for the last two weeks. LCA is going to feel a little quieter without you, and Ember is definitely going to miss her little sidekick 🐾

Well… what happened to June? 🌧️😂

After what feels like a month’s worth of rain squeezed into a few days, our daycare dogs have spent plenty of time dodging the downpours and making the most of every dry spell between showers.

The biggest hit this week has definitely been the new cosy snug. For everyone who has been wondering what we were building at the back of LCA, now you know! And judging by the queue of dogs claiming their favourite beds, it’s safe to say it’s been approved by our four-legged guests.

Who knew we’d be putting the fire on in June?! 🔥

Whether they’ve chosen to snooze in the snug, curl up in the hotel rooms, stretch out in the office, or watch the world go by from a comfy bed, our dogs have had plenty of options to rest, recharge and stay cosy while the Lancashire weather has done its thing.

As always, it’s been another fantastic week filled with happy dogs, wagging tails, sniffing, playing, afternoon naps and lots of cuddles.

Have a lovely weekend everyone. We’ll see our daycare gang again next week for more adventures… hopefully with a little less rain! ☔🐾

Every dog rests differently… and that’s exactly how we like it. 💤

At Lancashire Canine Academy, nap time isn’t a case of putting every dog in the same place and hoping for the best. Just like people, dogs have their own preferences when it comes to relaxing and recharging.

Some of our guests love the security of our crate room, curling up in their cosy crate for a peaceful snooze.

Others prefer the Snug, complete with comfy beds, TV, and a cosy fire, where they can stretch out and watch a bit of daytime television before drifting off.

For dogs who enjoy their own space, our Academy Suites provide a quiet hotel-style room all to themselves.

When the Lancashire sunshine makes an appearance, you’ll often find some of our guests choosing an outdoor sunbathing spot, soaking up the rays and enjoying a little fresh air nap.

And then there are dogs like Millie, who have decided that the office sofa is clearly the best bed in the building and aren’t afraid to claim it! 😂

Rest is a huge part of our daycare routine. We don’t believe dogs should be on the go all day. Regular downtime helps dogs regulate, recover, and return home happy rather than exhausted.

Whether your dog prefers a crate, a sofa, a hotel room, a cosy snug, or a sunny spot in the garden, we’ve got a nap-time option to suit them.

Because a happy daycare dog isn’t the one that’s played the hardest. It’s the one that’s had the right balance of activity, enrichment, and rest. ❤️

Another successful taster night at The Academy Suites for gorgeous trio Kiwi, Mango & Zucchini 🐾

These three were good as gold for their overnight stay and settled beautifully in their luxury suite last night, snuggled up watching Homeward Bound before drifting off to sleep.

This morning they’ve enjoyed a lovely walk and are now outside having a play with Ember and Chris while they wait to be collected.
