Cats Conkers Boarding Cattery

Cats Conkers Boarding Cattery A newly established private boarding cattery between Witney and Burford in West Oxfordshire. Since 1993 I have been involved with the welfare of animals.

Hand rearing has been my speciality since that time. I started with hedgehogs from new-born and progressed to kittens. I have a huge respect for all animals including wildlife and I am particularly fond of cats. I have worked and am currently still working as a volunteer for most of the cat charities and over the years have honed my skills at hand rearing kittens. I am able to rear kittens if nece

ssary from less than one day old. I rarely lose a life. I currently have three 15 year old cats which I took in as kittens. All these cats have medical issues which made them difficult to rehome after I had reared them. They are very special to me. Over the years and during my professional capacity I have attended many cat behaviour courses. All cats are treated as individuals by me as I am aware they all have different needs !!! Opening this boarding cattery is the realisation of my dreams for many years. There is such a need for good quality accommodation for cats when their owners are on holiday and I will look after each and every one of them as if they were my own.

I just can’t imagine how Spartacus ( as I have named him) became a stray that was bone thin.

As I said before when I appealed for a possible owner, he is neutered but not microchipped.

He is safe with me here at the cattery.

I am able to groom him, cut his nails, check his ears and worm and deflea him. He must have been loved some time in his life and I wonder what went wrong.

He wants for nothing here, he has a good warm roof over his head and he is very loved, I only wish that he is someone’s long lost very loved companion and for some reason has just lost his way.

He knows he is loved by me😻😻😻😻😻

The majestic Andean condor: guardian of the skies

With a wingspan as high as 3.3 meters, the Andean condor (Vultur gryphus) is one of the largest flying birds in the world! Adapted to glide for hours without flapping its wings, it soars over the Andes at an altitude of over 5,000 meters, taking advantage of air currents to conserve energy.

In addition to its dominance, the Andean condor has profound cultural significance. For Andean peoples, it represents strength, wisdom, and spiritual connection, and is venerated in ancient legends and traditions. In countries such as Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina, it is considered a national treasure.

A true wonder of nature and an imposing symbol of the South American skies! 🔥🦅

As quite a few of my lovely customers know, over the years I have been a fosterer for various cat charities as I am quite good at hand rearing orphan kittens.

Please please can I remind people to have their female cats neutered by six months of age as they are then more than capable of becoming pregnant. Their little bodies are not grown enough to sustain themselves and their offspring.

Male cats need to be neutered too, certainly by six months of age.

It is an “ old wives tale” that female cats need to have “ just one litter” as believe it or not they can get pregnant again more or less as soon as they have given birth. This puts such a massive strain on their bodies.

Please please please have your cats neutered. If you are struggling financially reach out to the charities to ask for help.

Thank you so much for reading this.

I would like to give an update on “Spartacus”, a stray I have been feeding since the middle of last November.

When I first saw him he was very very thin so I don’t think he was able to hunt.

He is now fully up to weight and is fed regularly by me.

He is an already neutered male with no microchip. I believe he must be about 8/9 years old as his teeth are good but he looks on the older side.

I have wormed him and deflead him and he has a very nice warm and dry bed.

I have a hunch he may come from Bushey Ground Minster Lovell as about the same time he appeared a bungalow there was vacated. He also wanders back that way sometimes.

I so want to help him so please if anyone knows him can they get in touch with me at the cattery in Minster. Someone took the trouble to neuter him and it would be so nice if he turns out to be someone’s much loved missing companion.

He is safe here, loved by me and well fed…..he needs to be with his owner if he has one.

Thankyou😺😺😺

This is Spartacus a week on from my last photo. He/she is now starting to trust that I am not going to hurt and today took a treat from my hand, progress indeed. I hope that one day he will have his very own home with someone who loves him.

There is no chip that I have found. He/she is going to be a gentle and loving cat, it just needs more time to cement the trust in humans.
