Hi! During the heatwave it’s important you know how to keep your pets safe! Here’s a few tips on how to protect them from this heat!
▪️Do not walk them. Only walk before the sun rises or after. Their paw pads can burn on the floor, remember the 5 second rule, if your palm can’t handle it for 5 seconds, their paws can’t either.
▪️ Absolutely do not leave your dog in a car under any circumstances, it takes 6 minutes for a dog to die in a hot car.
▪️Offer fresh water throughout the day, changing it every couple of hours.
▪️Cooling mats, cooling bandanas, fans, especially for breeds such as retrievers, huskies, malamutes, German shepards, collies, corgis and akitas.
▪️ Double coats (although not very common) also occur in cats. Breeds such as main c**n, Norwegian forest and Persians should also be kept inside.
▪️Paddling pools for those pooches that enjoy a good paddle.
▪️ Keep a lookout for signs of heatstroke.
▪️Please enjoy the sun, but be careful.
