Wales Veterinary Science Centre

Wales Veterinary Science Centre We provide surveillance post mortems and diagnostic testing for farm animals as well as vet CPD.

Iechyd Da, a consortium of independent veterinary practices based in Wales together with Welsh Lamb and Beef Producers Ltd., working in collaboration with Aberystwyth University, have been appointed by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) as a third party provider to deliver expert post-mortem examinations (PMEs) of new and re-emerging diseases of farm animals. This new service is designed to

provide support to veterinary businesses in Mid and North Wales, but will also contribute to an enhanced UK-wide scanning surveillance network which includes APHA, the wider veterinary profession and the livestock industry. Working out of the former Veterinary Investigation Centre in Aberystwyth, the Wales Veterinary Science Centre will initially provide expert PMEs for farm livestock. However, over time we intend to broaden the range of PMEs offered to include companion animals and wildlife species, as well as to develop a range of laboratory diagnostic services to support disease eradication programmes and to support field practitioners in disease diagnosis for their clients. The first stage will be to provide a PME service for veterinary surgeons within the Mid Wales region, and then, following consultation with the relevant veterinary practices, to extend this to North Wales using a carcass transport service.

The survey is for sheep keepers based in England and Wales and can be accessed via the following 🔗 https://s.surveyplanet.com/nc8fl8cw

As an incentive for participation, all entries will be placed into a prize draw and the winner will receive a £30 Amazon voucher.
