Meet Leia 🐶🤍
Leia came to her family at just 6 months old after being rescued from a killing station in Hungary by the incredible charity “Hungary Hearts.” After being found alone on the streets, she faced an unimaginably difficult start to life. In Hungary, many stray dogs are treated as vermin, and the conditions in kill shelters are heartbreaking.
Thankfully, Leia was one of the lucky ones. She travelled over 30 hours in a minibus alongside 20 other rescue dogs, driven by the amazing charity volunteers determined to give these dogs a second chance at life. Her family met her at a sanctuary just outside London before making the long journey home to Aberdeen — a day they describe as one of the best of their lives ❤️
Despite everything she’s been through, Leia continues to amaze everyone around her. She’s intelligent, hilarious, beautiful inside and out, and full of personality. A DNA test revealed 18 different breeds, with Chinese Shar Pei and Dachshund — much to everyone’s surprise 😂
Leia still has some anxiety and only fully trusts a small circle of people, but the progress she has made over the last two years has been incredible. She absolutely loves food, destroying brand new toys, and endless adventures. Whether it’s climbing Munros, paddleboarding, pub trips, car rides or exploring with her favourite humans, Leia is always ready for the next adventure.
And of course… she absolutely adores her walks with us at Hiking Tails 🥾🐕 Sam has officially made it onto Leia’s very exclusive “favourite people” list — sometimes even getting a more excited reaction than Dad😂
Stories like Leia’s are exactly why rescue dogs deserve every chance at happiness 🐾
