🏔️🐾 FOUR SUMMITS, ONE INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE 🐾🏔️

Last Sunday, the Hiking Tails pack took on an epic challenge... FOUR summits in one day! 😍

From Lord Arthur's Hill to Edinbanchory Hill, Brux Hill and Badingair Hill, our amazing adventurers covered over 15km of beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside, taking in some absolutely breathtaking views along the way 🌄💚

As always, the dogs were incredible. They tackled every climb with enthusiasm, enjoyed endless sniffs, and reminded us all that there really is no better hiking companion than a happy dog 🐕🐾

We were treated to sunshine, stunning scenery, plenty of laughs, and a whole lot of wagging tails. By the end of the day, both the dogs and the team were happily exhausted after another unforgettable mountain adventure ⛰️✨

A huge thank you to all our wonderful clients for trusting us with your four-legged family members. We absolutely love being able to give them experiences like this and seeing their confidence, friendships, and personalities shine on every hike 💚

Now, who recognises their muddy mountain explorer in these photos? 👀📸🐾

WE DID IT ❤️🐾

Yesterday at 5:30am, I started my 61km trek from Peterhead… and at 8:10pm, I crossed that finish line in Dyce.

What a day.

The first 30km felt really good — the pace was steady, we were moving well, and I managed to make up a lot of time early on. Passing through the old railway routes and taking in some absolutely amazing views along the way kept me going.

The route took me from Peterhead, through Mintlaw, Maud, Ellon and Newburgh, before finally finishing in Dyce.

But I won’t lie… the final 20km became a real mental battle.

The last 10km is when the first wave of tears hit. There were a lot of stops, a lot of sore feet, and a lot of “I can’t do this anymore” moments. But you know something? I could do it… and I DID IT.

Seeing the finish line, the van, and some of our amazing clients waiting for me at the end gave me a whole new lease of life and carried me through those final steps.

And the biggest shock of all…

Together we raised an incredible £1,147 for Dogs Trust ❤️

My original target was £250, so you all absolutely smashed it out the park. I genuinely cannot thank everyone enough for the donations, support, messages, and encouragement throughout the day.

I’m exhausted, emotional, very sore… but incredibly proud.

Full video coming soon🎥

Thank you all so much 🐾

🐾 The big day is only 2 days away… 🐾

This Saturday at 4:30am, I’ll officially be setting off on my 61km walk from Peterhead to Dyce in support of Dogs trust 💛

Honestly, the support so far has been unbelievable — we’ve already raised over TRIPLE the original fundraising goal, which still doesn’t feel real.

I’ll be sharing updates throughout the day as I go, and if anyone has some spare time and would like to come cheer me on, walk a little section with me, or just witness the slow decline of my legs over 16 hours 😅 I’d absolutely love to see you.

📍 Stop 1 – Mintlaw - 57.525429, -2.032934
📍 Stop 2 – Maud - 57.521475, -2.124081
📍 Stop 3 – Ellon - 57.366236, -2.086421
🏁 Finish Line – Dyce - 57.216016, -2.186930

I’ll aim to post updates and let everyone know when I’m approximately 2 hours away from each stopping point.

There’s still time to donate, share the fundraiser, and support the challenge 🐾

2 days to go until our 61km charity trek from Peterhead to Dyce 🥾🐾

Meet Dela 🤍🐶

When Dela’s family first brought her home, they were told she had been bred to become a gundog but was “too scared” of the loud noises. Deep down, they always felt there was more to the story.

When they arrived to collect her, Dela was brought out from a cage in a trailer. She was terrified of everything — people, other dogs and the world around her. She was also extremely underweight and clearly hadn’t had the best start in life.

Even now, despite all the love and care she receives, Dela can still flinch at sudden things and shows signs of fear and anxiety. She doesn’t trust easily and still won’t let just anyone near her — people have to earn that trust over time ❤️

It’s clear she experienced mistreatment from a very young age, but her family have shown her patience, kindness and what it truly means to feel safe.

And look at her now ✨

Dela has blossomed into a loved and adventurous dog, and every little bit of confidence she gains is a huge achievement 🐾

Although Dela wasn’t rescued through a charity, her story is still exactly why we are doing this trek — to raise awareness for dogs in these situations and highlight the importance of giving them the love, patience and second chance they deserve ❤️

3 days to go until our 61km charity trek from Peterhead to Dyce 🥾🐾

Meet Odie 🐶✨

Odie’s story began in Romania.

During a Christmas trip in 2023, Odie’s owner volunteered at a small rescue shelter near Bacău, created by one man determined to save abandoned and injured dogs from the streets. Amongst all the heartbreak was one tiny puppy full of life… Odie 🤍

From the moment they met, Odie never left her side. He played happily with his new toys, soaked up the attention and created a bond that would change both of their lives forever.

Leaving the shelter was devastating, but Odie never left her thoughts. Less than a month later, she saw that some of the rescue dogs were travelling to the UK — and amazingly, Odie was one of them.

After travelling through five countries and making the difficult journey home during Storm Ciara, Odie finally arrived safely in Aberdeen ❤️

Despite his heartbreaking start to life, Odie has grown into the happiest, cheekiest little dog. He loves everyone, adores playing with other dogs and lives life full of joy and adventure. His owner describes him as “pure magic” ✨

Now aged two and a half, Odie absolutely thrives on his Hiking Tails adventures, where he gets to run freely with his dog pals every week 🥾🐕

Even more amazingly, because of Odie, two more rescue dogs have since found homes in Aberdeen 🐾

If you’d like to support our trek and help raise money and awareness for rescue dogs just like Odie, you can donate here: https://events.dogstrust.org.uk/s/13947/15198

Final countdown officially on… 🐾

This Saturday at 4:30am, I’ll be setting off to walk 61km from Peterhead to Dyce in one go — around 16 hours on my feet 😅

What started as a simple fundraising challenge for has already turned into something so much bigger than I imagined, and we’ve somehow raised over TRIPLE the original goal 💛

There’s still time to support, share, and follow the journey as we get closer to the big day 🐕

Meet Leia 🐶🤍

Leia came to her family at just 6 months old after being rescued from a killing station in Hungary by the incredible charity “Hungary Hearts.” After being found alone on the streets, she faced an unimaginably difficult start to life. In Hungary, many stray dogs are treated as vermin, and the conditions in kill shelters are heartbreaking.

Thankfully, Leia was one of the lucky ones. She travelled over 30 hours in a minibus alongside 20 other rescue dogs, driven by the amazing charity volunteers determined to give these dogs a second chance at life. Her family met her at a sanctuary just outside London before making the long journey home to Aberdeen — a day they describe as one of the best of their lives ❤️

Despite everything she’s been through, Leia continues to amaze everyone around her. She’s intelligent, hilarious, beautiful inside and out, and full of personality. A DNA test revealed 18 different breeds, with Chinese Shar Pei and Dachshund — much to everyone’s surprise 😂

Leia still has some anxiety and only fully trusts a small circle of people, but the progress she has made over the last two years has been incredible. She absolutely loves food, destroying brand new toys, and endless adventures. Whether it’s climbing Munros, paddleboarding, pub trips, car rides or exploring with her favourite humans, Leia is always ready for the next adventure.

And of course… she absolutely adores her walks with us at Hiking Tails 🥾🐕 Sam has officially made it onto Leia’s very exclusive “favourite people” list — sometimes even getting a more excited reaction than Dad😂

Stories like Leia’s are exactly why rescue dogs deserve every chance at happiness 🐾

Thats why we are supporting Dogs Trust!

On May 23rd Alana be taking on a huge 61km charity trek from Peterhead to Dyce to help raise money and awareness for rescue dogs just like Leia. We have only already went and TRIPLED the original goal, thank you all so much for your support, we appreciate you all❤️
