The Twilight Retirement Home for Dogs is a registered association providing an oasis of love and tranquillity in a family home for old, sick and disabled dogs.

It’s about having the best of life to the very moment of crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Assoc Twilight W242001328

Twilight was established in 2009 and since then has seen more than 300 dogs pass through its gates. It has inspired many people to welcome an old or disabled dog into their life. Nestled in the verdant countryside of the French Perigord Vert, this is the family home of Leeanne and Mich

ael Whitley. They were inspired to create Twilight after losing their elderly dog Kizzy, and needing to find a friend for their remaining happy retriever, Teg. It became evident, searching the pounds and refuges, that if you were an old dog, life was not always so good, and your ending might be premature and/or without dignity. Twilight now provides all that a dog needs to make him or her as well and as comfortable as possible for their remaining days.

19 years on ….part 2

We couldn’t be doing Twilight without all this help. It was for the early years just Mike and I . Our love and belief that every pud deserved to die with dignity and not alone. That one or four legs, it deserved a chance to be the best pud it could be for however long, with all it needed.
As the years have passed, our love and ideal has never faulted. We have met some amazing humans along the way. And a brief mention to the not so great who, for whatever their reasons, want to bad mouth and try to harm what you do. There have been a very very few that have used and abused us. But … it may have stung, but at the end of the day, the puds are all that matter. There is no accounting those rotten few …sadly that is life. Perhaps karma will bite thém on the bum!
We celebrate each of the 530 puds though our door so far. Thé incredible associations out there that save and work tirelessly to save so so many. We have worked with many, whether bigger SPAs that entrust à pud to us, overseas assos, small associations that work in their regions or on a specialty of breed, or problem. We applaud you all for your endless efforts in helping abandoned, mistreated, abused, old and disabled animals….and sadly 19 years on for us ….it doesn’t seem to ever stop that we are all needed to be here. It heartens me to see so many new assos now up and running. We do not all have time to talk with each other ….but I wish you so much energy and thank you all for what you do.
I don’t know how long our little Asso has left to give, I hope another good few years for a few more delicious puds to share ours or àn outreach home under our umbrella.
Literal Energy frôm us, desire frôm our volunteers and financial, or what we need donated, all determine that.
How ever you have been involved with us, past or present …. We thank you deeply for caring and making the difference to so many puds lives. It isn’t possible to name you all here, but you all know who you are …. And we shall never forget you. You are all part of the Twilight family.
As mummy Twilight, as I close. I just want to thank daddy Twilight. My love, my husband and best friend. You do not have the best of health now, but you are still so full of love. That love fills this house, the puds, volunteers….and Ofcourse me ###
We both feel deeply blessed to have had and have the privilege of getting to know so many precious souls before the rainbow bridge. Sometimes years …other times days.
Take in every moment of everyday Twilight friends, share your love, live your life and stay safe in these troubled times.
