Twilight - the retirement home for dogs

Twilight - the retirement home for dogs The Twilight Retirement Home for Dogs is a registered association providing an oasis of love and tranquillity in a family home for old, sick and disabled dogs.

It’s about having the best of life to the very moment of crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Assoc Twilight W242001328

Twilight was established in 2009 and since then has seen more than 300 dogs pass through its gates. It has inspired many people to welcome an old or disabled dog into their life. Nestled in the verdant countryside of the French Perigord Vert, this is the family home of Leeanne and Mich

ael Whitley. They were inspired to create Twilight after losing their elderly dog Kizzy, and needing to find a friend for their remaining happy retriever, Teg. It became evident, searching the pounds and refuges, that if you were an old dog, life was not always so good, and your ending might be premature and/or without dignity. Twilight now provides all that a dog needs to make him or her as well and as comfortable as possible for their remaining days.

How’s the big boy I hear you ask? Mr Biggins we think rather suits him.
Hmmm, well, it is a Challenge. No point saying otherwise. He is not too keen on Fletch or Rock, and as the days pass, thé feeling is mutual. But Biggins was only castrated Monday and is experiencing a freedom like never before…..so, early days. Calm prevails most of the time, and no blood has been shed. Paws crossed we all find a happy middle road for communal living.

The vet check shows he has grim ears with something going on deep inside. Just waiting for the spécimen results. He is having to deal with grim worms, so hefty treatment. Mahoosive community living thé vet puts that down too. And he has a lot of pain in his hips ….so getting settled into new pain relief. We will also start him on joint supplements to hopefully help.

So thé lad has a lot on his plate and can be forgiven for a little over manliness….but, we are having to keep very aware. He is sooo handsome though isnt he!

Our monthly vet visit needed 10 in-depth assessments for Henri to view.
Our 2.5 hours covered talking about the passing of dear Bear, controls for our newbies, follow ups assessments for the likes of Rock and Mini, and the way forward for those with issues.

Urgent follow ups at the clinic will be on Monday for Braille And Winnie. Xray for Braille of her spine, thé curvature is gaining a rapid pace. For Winnie, it is likely the cancer has taken over …it may be time, à scan will confirm our fears.

Also, Daisy needs àn Xray to see what is occurring with her left knee. Further tests for possible cancer around her nose.

I thank Rachel for helping me with keeping all the paws happy whilst I’m with our vet. Vet visits need a bit more than just mummy to keep the house at one!

Newbie Alert ‼️ 🔔

Hold onto your hats and hearts German Shephard fans….
Meet …Nuage thé Teddy bear Biggins! Yes, still unsure of his name. He certainly doesn’t know his supposed name.

This lad is here as I couldn’t bare him not experiencing some life. He is a retired daddy from a large breeders set up in Northern France.

He is a big softy on one level, but as only just castrated….the testosterone is still rolling. So, interesting first few days. Everything is new to him. He is needy. Can’t believe the things that happen on TV, can see himself in a glass door, and thén grass, and so much to sniff ….and as for being in a house, gosh so much to take in. Bless him.

His back legs and hips ….hmmm, à real breed problem. Vets here later to assess.

Thank you Katharina and Anne for collecting him for the last hour of his long day journey here.

À story to unravel for him methinks. You are very welcome handsome. What a licker you are!
