Red Dog Home Boarding

Red Dog Home Boarding After several happy years looking after our small group of vizsla friends, we won't be offering our services from the end of 2020.

A whole new adventure awaits us in 2021. Thank you to all who trusted us with their wonderful pups. I'll be using this page to share pics of our vizzies Boris and Lola. Thank you for taking the time to join in their adventures.

I've been growing veg and the runaway success this year has been courgettes. We are so sick of them. Our neighbours are sick of them. Our freezer is stashed full of them. Normally we harvest them when small and full of flavour, but this one seems to have got past our rigorous daily frisk of the courgette plants. 🥒

I finally managed to make a trip to Glasgow for the first time in 18 months. It was awesome to reunite with family and friends after such a long time. It was hard to say goodbye not knowing when I would see them again......but I am so enjoying being back in the peaceful French countryside with my two furry buddies

The hounds have had a big day out. First of all a trip to Périgueux and a walk through the town and along the banks of l'Isle. Then the evening walk took us around the sights of Payzac as it prepares for the end of tomorrow's stage of stopping for a swift drink at the bar for the humans and some peanuts for the pups.

Humans and hounds had a great night out last night at the night market in Ségur le Château. The dogs were super impressed with the locally produced and freshly BBQed sausages we bought them. They shared one and one was squirreled away in the picnic bag for the next day......until Boris sussed that out, raided the bag when we weren't looking and woofed down the spare sausage! They were joined later by their little Jack Russel friend Izzy and her humans

He's safe and has been rehomed a decent distance from the house. Sparked off a major obsession in Boris once he realised the perimeter had been breached!

We took a short drive to Ségur-le-Château today to try out a new walking route. The dogs loved the change of scene - especially the tree line trails and paddle stops in the river.

It was with great sadness that we learned this week that our dear friend and vizzie family member Willow had lost her fight with osteomyelitis. From our very first meeting with Willow as host dog at Vizsla Home From Home we knew she was one very special girl. We were delighted when Gail trusted us with her care and she quickly became like another family member. She holidayed with us, she slept on our bed (this may be news to Gail), she monopolised Peter's lap when she stayed. She was such a sassy girl, able to persuade me to share a snack with just a few flicks of those super expressive eyebrows but who never dined without the dramatic and theatrical addition of parmesan to any meal. The other guest dogs (and Boris) were well aware of who was boss when Willow was in residence....and yet she loved to snuggle up for a cuddle, willingly shared the sofa with her favourites and is remembered with fondness by my family and friends alike. Run free, Willow. Much love to Gail, Tim, Josh and Dylan and everyone else whose life Willow shared and enriched x
