The years drift by like autumn leaves,
Yet still you nicker when you see me.
Your coat, once fire, now dusted gray,
But in your eyes, the same bright day.
We’ve ridden dawns and chased the breeze,
Through rocky trails and rustling trees.
With miles travelled, my trusted friend,
Each hoofbeat knows memories never end.
Your mane is thinner, mine is too,
But love has aged like morning dew,
Soft and still, yet shining clear,
You’re in my heart and always near.
So let the world race on ahead,
We’ll take the twilight path instead.
For nothing’s finer, nothing more true,
Than growing older and wiser with you.
