When the warmer weather arrives, many horses find their skin comfort put to the test . You may have noticed that your horse suffers from repeated itching , keeps rubbing itself, or has much more sensitive skin than usual.
Summer dermatitis is indeed one of the most dreaded discomforts of the hot season.
Although it does not affect all horses in the same way, it can profoundly impact their daily well-being and therefore deserves your full attention to prevent it and, in cases where it is already present, to alleviate it.
PLANTAIN – Plantago Lanceolata. Plantaginaceae family
Plantain is a perennial herbaceous plant 10-60 cm tall, common in Asia and Europe. Flowering from April to October.
Components: Iridoid heterosides, phenylethanoides, mucilages, flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarin, essential oil.
The plantain, a plant that calms the irritations of the horse's bronchi
The plantain has purifying and soothing properties in the event of irritation of the upper respiratory tract and the bronchi.
Plantain can also be used for external use to relieve insect bites, burns and skin irritation.
The effectiveness of plantain is generally attributed to the mucilage it contains. This substance softens and calms the mucous membranes in case of irritation of the mouth and throat.
With what to associate the plantain?
For enhanced action, you can also opt for an addition of Broncho pulm liquid in the ration. Broncho pulm liquid is a liquid complementary food made from a mixture of plants selected for their soothing properties.
