Thank you to everyone that has contacted us about an advert on Facebook asking for help for an abandoned horse.
We had several people contact us after they had seen the advert as well as the lady that had posted the advert for her friend.
We spoke on the telephone to the lady's friend on Tuesday evening and agreed to visit the horse the following morning.
Just over an hour's drive from Alloue Equine Rescue.
I visited the horse yesterday.
She has not been abandoned.
Her owner visits once a week, although in our opinion this is not enough he is still visiting.
The horse has plenty to eat in her field and is currently over weight which is not helped by the daily carrots and apples that she is being fed by the concerned lady and her husband.
I have asked them to stop feeding and explained why and they fully understand.
She has a good supply of water.
She does have some signs of old fly bites on her shoulder but these have healed.
I treated her for flies yesterday.
The owner has agreed for a lovely knowledgeable neighbour to take on her care.
I left fly treatment with the neighbour yesterday.
Her hoof has finally broken away as it would in the wild and the piece in the photo we were sent is no longer attached and her feet are good for a semi wild horse.
The horse is in her late 20's and has lived in this field for at least 20 years.
As you can see from the photo I took, she is a beautiful horse.
