The "wait" and "no"/”leave it” commands.
⠀
⠀
So we participated in this ”wait” challenge as well). And I want to tell you about the most common mistake that the dog owners make: they say the command “no”/”leave it” and then they want the dog to wait until some point for permission.
⠀
⠀
The “wait” and “no”/ ”leave it” commands are two completely different things.
⠀
⠀
❌ Command "no"/”leave it”
The most important rule of this command is that the dog NEVER GETS the object or an action that you said "no” to. That "no" is a complete ban on any action.
⠀
⠀
⭕️Command "wait"
After this command, the dog waits and then GETS the object/action.
⠀
⠀
When the dog owners get confused with these commands, they are breaking the logic of the things.
⠀
⠀
❗️For example: the owner says “no” in situations where he wants the dog to do nothing and wait, and then allows it something. (As in this challenge with food). And then they go for a walk, and the dog wants to pick up something from the ground. Again owner says “no”, only he doesn't want the dog to pick up something from the ground in any case.
⠀
⠀
And which one it is a command then? When the same command can mean for the dog two different things, it doesn’t understand what owner wants from it: is this the first option “no” when the dog still gets something or the second when it’s a total ban?
