Cat of the Week returns with the impressive Maine C**n, Peter Gunn!
Peter Gunn had come to us a couple of months ago from his former owner, who also turned over her their cat, Muru, to us last year.
We knew initially that he was in the middle of antibiotic treatment for mycoplasma, and had some issues with his teeth, but we should have know that wasn't all...
So Peter Gunn completed his antibiotics and came out of quarantine, but we noticed that his eye was continuing to water. So then we found out he was never actually tested, just diagnosed and given medicine.
Thanks to the experience of our office master, Jonna, we concluded he may have had another disease altogether, and it turned out to be a doozy. Peter Gunn never had mycoplasma, instead he had kaliki virus.
Since we had to get him out of here as quickly as possible so that it wouldn't spread, we put out a bulletin looking for a foster home, ASAP! Thankfully we had an almost immediate response, and he was gone an hour later.
And even better news is that the foster home has since become a permanent one! Peter Gunn made such a good impression that his foster parents adopted him outright.
And we had a feeling it would work out that way. He was such a friendly cat, despite being told he wasn't. We wish wish the gentle giant, Peter Gunn, all the best!
