Here’s what Nui carries (or wears) on almost every summer adventure:

✔ Lightweight harness (with a handle)
✔ Dog backpack (for longer hikes, not overstuffed)
✔ Cooling vest (this one is a game changer on hot days - she can stay active for much longer!)
✔ Life jacket (for swimming and kayak adventures)
✔ Trail boots (for rough or hot terrain - even for hiking)

Who's your favourite paddle pal? 🐶💦😁

"Paddle pals, they were mint to be 🩵 See what I did there 😉

Calli decided to jump ship and load up on our board. Wrigley wasn't thrilled as baby dog shook off and rubbed herself all over the board.. and Wrigley. She looked displeased, haha, but was a good sport!

The water was so calm and the sunset was so beautiful ! It was a much needed night with the girl gang!

Tips for a succesful summer day by the water 💦

"One thing about living near the river is that we always need to be mindful of keeping Arlo safe.

Whether we're paddle boarding, enjoying a beach day, or just going for a quick dip after work, we always bring Arlo a life jacket. We got a new one from this year and we're already loving it! It's the Life Saviour Eco in the colour Buckthorn, which provides excellent visibility so he can always be seen in the water.

Here are some other beach day safety tips:

🦠Water quality
•Ensure the place you're at is safe for swimming. Look out for harmful blue-green algae, sharp rocks or broken objects that could harm your dog.

⛱️Providing breaks from swimming
•Although swimming can be fun all day, it's important to make sure your dog has time to rest so they don't get sore muscles or injuries.

🫗Bringing clean drinking water
•It's good to get in the habit of bringing fresh water on every adventure, for you and for your dog!

☀️A hot day means hot sand!
•You're likely wearing shoes, but your dogs paws are very sensitive and susceptible to burns from the hot sand. Stick to indoor activities if it's too hot outside.

💧Bringing a towel to dry him after
•Excessive moisture can lead to rashes and infections. Be sure to dry between their legs and in their ears!

Have you ever hiked in the dawn of the new day, during the first beams of sunrise? 🌅

"This week I decided to do something totally out of the ordinary for me — I woke up before sunrise and headed to the mountains for an early morning walk.

It’s not something I’d usually go for, but after a chat with a fellow Hurtta family member, I felt inspired to step out of my comfort zone. And I’m so glad I did. I didn’t regret it for a second. It was peaceful, grounding, and honestly… kind of magical.

We saw foxes, deer, and all kinds of wild creatures going about their morning just before the sun came up. But once the sun rose, it was like the world changed — they all disappeared into the shadows, and it felt like it was just me and the dogs.

If you needed a sign to shake up your routine and reconnect with nature — this is it. I challenge you to get out there, bring your dog, and create your own little adventure. You never know what magic you’ll find."
