Laboratory - Art Space for Now New photography gallery in Helsinki now open Laboratory is a photography gallery located in the creative heart of Helsinki.

Run and curated with love by Finnish photo agency Viewmasters, Laboratory offers exhibitions, experiences and events during the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 year. Nothing permanent – just like the moments of sheer brilliance good photography captures. With a little help from our friend Nokia. EXHIBITIONS:

February 10 – April 8: Martin Parr (UK) – Think of Finland

Martin Parr's "Think of Fi

nland" presents new body of work from the world-renowned Magnum photographer. In August 2011 Parr documented Finnish people and their way of life between Helsinki and the northern city of Oulu. The resulting photographs show us Finns without embellishment but with empathy and warmth. The exhibition is brought to Helsinki together with Nokia. April 13 – May 20: Perttu Saksa (FI) – Echo

Perttu Saksa, one of Finland’s most noted young photographers, takes us into questions related to nonhuman, on thinking ourselves through animal Other and to question our histories with the animal. EVENTS:

Laboratory – Art Space for Now – has now closed its doors at Erottajankatu 9 b

It was a fantastic year that will be missed by us and many friends that we made during our existence. We will however continue making events and exhibitions happen, just like we did during 2012. Stay tuned and follow this site for info. Thank you all for your love and support.

The last exhibition at Laboratory - Art Space for Now is a collection of exquisite photos by Peter Farago and Ingela Klemetz Farago for Chanel. They feature 45 of the most sought-after supermodels from the Nordic and Baltic countries. The project has resulted in a lavish coffee table book and a touring photography exhibition, both entitled Northern Women in Chanel. This must-see of this winter is now open, free of charge and will be open till 27 January 2013!
