🚫🐶 Blue-Green Algae: A Hidden Summer Danger for Dogs

That murky pond, lake, or slow-moving water might look harmless, but it could contain blue-green algae (cyanobacteria), a toxic bacteria that can make dogs seriously ill, sometimes within minutes.

Even a quick swim or a few sips of contaminated water can be enough to cause poisoning.

Watch for signs like:
⚠️ Vomiting or diarrhea (sometimes bloody)
⚠️ Weakness or disorientation
⚠️ Tremors or seizures
⚠️ Difficulty breathing
⚠️ Liver damage or failure
⚠️ Paralysis or even coma

Symptoms can appear in as little as 30 minutes. If your dog has been in or near suspicious water and starts showing any of these signs, seek emergency veterinary care immediately.

The best prevention? Skip water that looks green, blue-green, cloudy, or has surface scum or floating mats. When in doubt, keep your dog out.
