Rescue Me International Animal Foundation

Rescue Me International Animal Foundation Rescue Me International Animal Foundation is a registered NGO in Spain and a registered 501c Nonprofit in the USA.

Our animal rescue efforts include our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program/year-round cat sterilization program, and fostering stray animals. Our director and charity board members reside in several locations and focus rescue efforts primarily in Sitges (Barcelona, Spain) and southeastern Iowa (Mahaska & Keokuk county). Our current priorities are year-round TNR programs (Trap Neuter Return) to control

community cat populations, and our palliative and hospice services for senior pets. We provide low cost spaying/neutering programs, veterinary care, and daily food to hundreds of animals between our locations. Our team is focused and committed to preventing and easing the unnecessary suffering of animals in our communities.

Community cats are called such to acknowledge their thousands of years of history as members of our communities, who thrive in their outdoor homes among us.

These cats are bonded to their outdoor homes and to their feline families, and they are generally not adoptable. That's why Trap-Neuter-Return ( ) is so important.

TNR is humane, evidence-based policy that embraces community cats' nature, their biology, and their inherent value as beings deserving of respect and protection. It focuses on helping these cats continue to live out their lives in familiar surroundings while vaccinated and free of the stresses of mating and pregnancy.

Let us know if you need a shelter 🐈💙

As the weather warms up, community cat caregivers should know: outdoor shelters are important when it's hot out, too! Then, the cats have a safe, comfortable place to rest and stay cool.

Set up outdoor shelters in shaded locations away from busy areas--ideally where the cats already spend their time. Find outdoor shelter ideas here ➡️ alleycat.org/ShelterGallery

If you care for community cats, what outdoor shelters do you have in place?

Statistically speaking, “free kittens” often continue the heartbreaking cycle of cat overpopulation. Not every kitten ends up adding to the problem, but a high majority do. 😭

If you’re considering taking in free kittens, ask about the mama cat too. Is she being spayed? Is there a plan to prevent more litters? ✂️ People who take kittens without addressing the mother’s situation may unintentionally enable the cycle to continue. Ending suffering starts with prevention. ✅

And if you’re someone who suddenly finds yourself caring for kittens, your first priority should be getting mom fixed. 🐈‍⬛ I know money can be tight and resources can feel impossible to find, but even small sacrifices now can prevent countless future kittens from being born into hardship, danger, or uncertainty. Don’t wait. Make a plan. Skip that morning coffee ☕️ and start saving now.

Reach out to shelters, rescues, or TNR programs for guidance on safely rehoming kittens and getting mom spayed. Many organizations are overwhelmed, especially during kitten season, so they may not be able to solve everything for you, but advice, support, and information can go a long way if you are willing to be proactive. 😻🐾

Please Spay and Neuter!!!

It is the ONLY way out of the current cat overpopulation crisis. It is the ONLY way to end the suffering on the streets. There aren’t enough home for all of the cats. Spaying and neutering you personal pets and any neighborhood/community cats you know of is the ONLY way.
