Surface area matters a whole lot!

Surface Area Matters

The hoof is designed with a specific blueprint.

When we ignore the Hard Sole Plane (HSP) and invent our own version, we rob the horse of the foot nature intended.

The HSP isn’t an opinion. It’s the anatomical constant that dictates balance, load, and surface area.

When we trim by personal preference (PPT - Personal Preference Trimming), we distort the capsule, reduce the horse’s natural support, and create imbalance that the internal structures must pay for.

❌ No PPT allowed.
❌ No guesswork.
❌ No “ideal angles” dreamt up on paper.

👉 The horse doesn’t need our idea of a foot.

👉 The horse needs their own foot back - the one nature designed to give them maximum surface area and support.

Give the horse their foot back.

The most rewarding and heart filling tool I have is that I can make a quick and profound to the health of my animals when they are sick. ❤️
Even more beautiful is their change in behaviour towards me after they realise that I’m listening to them. ❤️
This little old girl has utilised her plant medicine regularly since she arrived with us. ❤️
It’s really quite incredible how my cats and horse so clearly choose their medicine 🥰
She had the whole bed but she knows where her medicine is ❤️

“PERFECTION is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away” ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

This quote really fits with how Mother Nature trims her hooves…
Every step, every minute, every day, the earth is trimming away all that is needed to keep the hoof in balance with its horse and with its environment ❤️
There are too many things we are still yet to know about the wild horse and his hooves, questions that need answering, and the truth is that there is NOT one human hand that can trim your horse’s hooves as perfectly as he would be trimmed in a genuinely wild environment…
So we do the best we can, we keep learning and remove as much guesswork as possible…

Mother Nature has kindly given us lots of clues and signals to where balance is and it’s up to us to let go, mimic nature as much as we can and honour the hoof in its truly bare form ❤️
