The Ministry of Environment of CLM has launched on April 12, 2017 to public information the new order of control predators in April 2017, which extends the methods of capture of 2013: cats and feral dogs, foxes and magpies will continue to be brutally massacred with more traps and authorized methods (trap cages and snare-loop). They continue to be treated as''alimals '' when they are a key part of the ecosystem.
What happen?
Stray or abandoned dogs are captured and shot. Wolves and the like can also fall into these traps.
Feral cats and rural cats with access to the outside are captured and shot. Wildcat and other animals such as mustelids, lynxes, otters ... can fall into this trap.
Foxes are captured and shot. Other animals of similar habits and size can fall into this trap.
Magpies are captured and shot. Other corvids or other birds may fall into this trap.
What scandalizes?
SCANDALIZES that only the economic benefit of dams in hunting grounds and for hunters is contemplated. They do not want a single piece of their game to be food for these animals (remember 50% of game animals are reared in breeding factories, and released for their soon shot and without instinct of survival)
The populations of prey species are affected by a multitude of factors such as the quality of the habitat, the availability of food and shelter, the climate, competition, parasites and diseases, without forgetting the exercise of hunting itself.
From an ecological perspective, neither the positive effect nor the effectiveness of the control of predators is demonstrated, neither to control the populations of the predators, nor on the prey species on which it is intended to achieve a beneficial effect, nor on the balance between the different predators and their prey.
SCANDALIZES that non-hunting protected species can fall into these traps (endangered species such as wolves, otters, wild cats ...).
SCANDALIZES that the massacred dogs are in their 95% lost or abandoned dogs.
SCANDALIZES that no measure of ethical population control is taken as an alternative. How to capture and move dogs in the animal protection center or protective. How to perform ethical feline management.
SCANDALIZES that regional, state and European regulations are violated (Article 16 Habitats Directive, Article 9 Berne Convention, Article 9 Birds Directive, and Article 58 of Law 42/2007). They are not selective methods nor is their exceptional application justified, which is clearly generalized.
Despite the existing legal regulation and the requirement that a series of requirements be met for the authorization of these methods in exceptional circumstances, in many areas of our country these are used as a normal practice, without effective control field of compliance with the conditions of authorizations.
ESCANCALIZE that these 4 target species (fox, cat and feral dog and magpies) are ALREADY hunting species without number of limit pieces. This means that they can be shot during the hunting season without resorting to capture.
SCANDALIZE that justify homologation of capture methods with animal welfare indices and international standards, eye!: That the animal does not suffer during its period in the trap, it must maintain animal welfare until we give it a shot !!!
What we want?
We demand that the permits that are being granted to capture these animals be paralyzed. Let his killing to be shot without exception according to the closure order.
There are not enough population studies or a valid basis for the effectiveness of these catches on the balance of the ecosystem. It is understood bypassed the regulations that prohibit these practices.
