Here's a poem that I wrote about us and our phones.

​Your phone is your life,
with everything stored
from bank account to music,
the photos you hoard.
​The bigger the screen,
the longer you stay,
scrolling forever,
just wasting your day.
​Eyes on the screen,
not seeing what's to be seen,
a constant connection,
with no thought or affection.
​The algorithms push you,
in the direction they please,
keeping you locked,
on the dopamine tease.
​A ping on the screen
and you jump like a slave,
from the day that you're born
to the edge of the grave.
​Common sense is faltering,
attentions run short,
three seconds you give
and leave before caught.
​Your phone knows the answers,
there's no need to think,
just ask it a question,
it replies in a blink.
​You filter your face
till the real you is gone,
just feeding the beast
from the dusk until dawn.
​You look at their lives,
so perfect and bright,
and judge your own world
by the glow of the light.
​We sit in a room,
but we’re miles apart,
a text on a screen
replaces the heart.
​The real world is waiting,
the sun’s in the sky,
but life passes by us
in the blink of an eye.
​The matrix has caught us,
the grid has us tight,
as we drown in the screen
in the dead of the night.
​The internet is full,
some false and some true,
finding out which,
is all up to you.
