Morning kisses ❤️

Was just surprised by one dog in Retiro which apparently run away from his owners so just he could lick my face all over and make me a company for a while 😀 I guess that is what they mean when they say "my work follows me everywhere". 😃👌🏻

Meet Guz & Kira. ❤ The most loving and grateful dogs I had the privilege to took care about so far. I was sitting them two months ago and I spent the most amazing days with them in a beautiful apartment just as big to provide them a lot of space for their endless, wolf-like playing (reminding of flying here and there). They grew up together after they were adopted. As a result, the bond between them is very strong. When I took for a walk just one of them, even just for a short while, after coming back they were greeting each other as they haven't seen each other for age

What are the real benefits which can dog walking bring to you and your "best friend"?

In short, these can be seen as the main ones:

1. Walks improve pet health
2. Walks provide socialization and stimulation
3. Walks improve pet behavior
4. Dog walkers give you peace of mind
5. A dog walker saves you time

Meet Raqui (here resting after the long walk and snack), the dog of my first dog walking experience. It was my honour to walk such a beautiful creature, full of life, innocence and curiosity, as so typical for puppies - even though he is rather a big one (as no one forgot to mentioned while spotting his "lions" pads and hearing he is still just a puppy). :-) Five months old ridgeback's puppy. Even during seemingly short time, we enjoyed a lot of fun & experience. He was my great teacher as he taught me a lot about dog's nature (and it must be no coincidence I originally misspelled the word dog and wrote god instead) and especially about this wild, curious and reckless dog's archetype.

As dogs cannot communicate with us directly through the medium of words, it can be especially useful to make sure we understand their body language meaning and are able to read it quickly. :-)

"Although dogs do use sounds and signals, much of the information that they send is through their body language, specifically their facial expressions and body postures."

What is your dog trying to tell you? Dogs have a language that allows them to communicate their emotional state and their intentions to others around them. Although dogs do use sounds and signals, much of the information that they send is through their body language, specifically their facial expres...

Great article on important features a good walker should have. The message could be summarized as that it is more then just a hobby done without gathered knowledge and some prior experiences. It is a job with great reponsibility first and foremost, because the dog walker overtakes the complete responsibility for the dog.

"But they pointed out that making good decisions is based on knowledge, the knowledge of how best to handle the multitude of potential crisis that can come up when out in public with a dog. You can’t make good, quick decisions if you don’t already have a plan in mind."

"Surely dog walkers have to be able to read dogs. How else would they know that their charge isn’t comfortable when a young child asks to pet the dog?"

"What about the walker’s knowledge of dog behavior and how dogs learn? Is your dog walker going to jerk the leash when your pup barks excitedly at another dog? If so, your pup just might be learning that the sight of other dogs leads to pain, and the barks may turn to aggressive ones rather than ones born of excitement."

What Do “Dog Walkers” Need to Know? June 8, 2015 >> 37 CommentsDog walkers do not show up on my radar very often, living as I do on a farm in the country. Jim and I are the dog walkers, and we like it that way. However, I am also aware how very lucky we are to have the time and the logistics to be a...
