Gisteren is dit lieve teefje van ongeveer 1 jaar oud gevonden in Hondón de las Nieves. Zij heeft geen chip. Zij is gevonden tussen de urbanisatie La Montañosa en het benzinestation in Hondón de los Frailes.
Is er iemand die haar misschien herkent?
Voor nu zijn we dringend op zoek naar een foster gezin voor haar, zodat zij niet naar een kennel hoeft. Wilt u alstublieft overwegen om haar in ieder geval voor tijdelijk een thuis te geven?

Yesterday, this sweet female dog—approximately 1 year old—was found in Hondón de las Nieves. She doesn't have a chip. She was found between the La Montañosa urbanisation and the petrol station in Hondón de los Frailes.
Does anyone recognize her?
We are urgently looking for a foster home for her, so she doesn't have to go to a kennel.

Great news regarding the brown podenco we've been trying to help! A kind individual has been consistently feeding him from their home, slowly building trust. They can now almost feed him by hand! This has taken time and patience, and we're making excellent progress.

**Zwerfhonden en zwerfkatten in Spanje: een urgent probleem en mogelijke oplossingen**

In Spanje is het aantal zwerfhonden en zwerfkatten al jarenlang een groot probleem. Dit wordt veroorzaakt door factoren zoals het achterlaten van huisdieren, een gebrek aan sterilisatie en castratie, en onvoldoende opvangmogelijkheden. Gelukkig zijn er initiatieven die zich inzetten om het welzijn van deze dieren te verbeteren.

**De situatie van zwerfdieren in Spanje**
Het aantal zwerfdieren in Spanje blijft zorgwekkend hoog, vooral in landelijke gebieden waar honden en katten zonder toezicht rondzwerven. Zwerfhonden vormen een risico in het verkeer, niet alleen voor zichzelf maar ook voor weggebruikers. Daarnaast kunnen zij schade aan landbouwgebieden veroorzaken. Zwerfkatten leven vaak in stedelijke omgevingen en veroorzaken overlast, zoals vuilnisproblemen en geluidsoverlast.

**Nieuwe dierenwelzijnswet en regelgeving**

Hoewel de wet in september 2023 is ingevoerd, zijn sommige regels nog niet in werking getreden vanwege politieke vertragingen. Enkele van de maatregelen die nog ontwikkeld moeten worden zijn:
- Verplichte aansprakelijkheidsverzekering voor alle honden.
- Cursus voor hondenbezitters om verantwoorde zorg te waarborgen.
- Identificatiechip** voor alle huisdieren.

**Boetes bij overtreding**
De wet voorziet in boetes tussen €500 en €200.000, afhankelijk van de ernst van de overtreding. Helaas zijn jachthonden uitgezonderd van de wet, waardoor jagers minder verplichtingen hebben dan reguliere hondeneigenaren.

**Dierenorganisaties en opvangcentra**

**Stray Dogs and Cats in Spain: An Urgent Problem and Possible Solutions**

Spain has long struggled with a significant number of stray dogs and cats. Factors such as pet abandonment, a lack of sterilization, and insufficient shelter facilities contribute to this issue. Fortunately, various initiatives are working to improve these animals' welfare.

**The Situation of Stray Animals in Spain**
The number of stray animals remains alarmingly high, especially in rural areas where dogs and cats roam unsupervised. Stray dogs pose traffic risks, not only for themselves but also for road users. Besides they may cause damage in agricultural zones. Stray cats, on the other hand, often create issues such as waste accumulation and noise disturbances in urban areas.

**New Animal Welfare Law and Regulations**
To tackle this problem, the Spanish government has introduced a new animal welfare law, with key measures including:
- Maximum unsupervised period: Dogs may not be left alone for more than 24 hours, other pets for up to three days.
- Ban on the sale of dogs, cats, and ferrets in pet stores.
- Prohibition of displaying animals in shop windows.
- Ban on participation in public shows, such as circuses or dog fights.
- Mandatory reporting of lost or stolen pets within 48 hours.
- Euthanasia is only allowed in extreme cases under veterinary supervision.

**Perros y gatos callejeros en España: un problema urgente y posibles soluciones**

En España, el número de perros y gatos callejeros sigue siendo un problema significativo. Factores como el abandono de mascotas, la falta de esterilización y castración, y la insuficiencia de refugios contribuyen a la situación. Afortunadamente, existen iniciativas para mejorar el bienestar de estos animales.

**La situación de los animales callejeros en España**
El número de animales callejeros sigue siendo preocupante, especialmente en zonas rurales donde los perros y gatos vagan sin supervisión. Los perros callejeros representan un peligro en el tráfico, ni solo para si mismos sino también para los usuarios de la via. Además pueden causar daños en áreas agrícolas. Los gatos callejeros, por su parte, generan problemas como acumulación de basura y ruidos en las ciudades.

**Nueva ley de bienestar animal y regulaciones**
Para abordar este problema, el gobierno español ha implementado una "nueva ley de bienestar animal", con medidas clave como:
*Tiempo máximo sin supervisión: Los perros no pueden estar solos más de 24 horas, otras mascotas hasta tres días.
*Prohibición de la venta de perros, gatos y hurones en tiendas de animales.
*No exhibición de animales en escaparates.
*Prohibición de participación en espectáculos públicos, como circos y peleas de perros.
*Notificación obligatoria de pérdida o robo de una mascota en 48 horas.

*Curso obligatorio para dueños de perros, para fomentar la tenencia responsable.
*Microchip de identificación para todas las mascotas.

**Multas por infracciones**
Las sanciones van de 500 a 200.000 euros, según la gravedad de la infracción. Sin embargo, los perros de caza están excluidos de la ley, lo que ha generado controversia.

**Organizaciones de protección animal y refugios**
