Do you want your dog to pay attention when you issue a command? Easiest way is just use its name for training and commands - all other times, use a nickname. (My dog is Rollo - nickname Scooby). It's a bit like "mum", "mum", "mum" - your response will probably be "sigh - what now?". Same with dogs. Overuse makes it less effective.

Mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise for a dog. Additionally, not all behaviours can be made extinct. For example - if you have a dog that chews, it's unlikely to ever lose that desire so a distraction could be an empty toilet roll, place a treat inside and fold the ends over. Allow the dog to destroy at its hearts content. Allowing the dog an outlet for that behaviour will help you, and the dog, control that behaviour and save furniture 😁

Common behavioural problems include:

Pulling on the lead
Fear of fireworks
Fear of loud noises
Phobias or anxiety like separation anxiety
Jumping up at people
Barking at other dogs or people
Recall problems
Aggression
Destructive behaviour
Peeing/pooing in the house
Hu***ng
Attention seeking

Got to work with a Romanian Carpathian Shepherd Dog this week. Never seen one before. Beautiful dog.

Have you tried training your dog and failed? Are you embarrassed by your dogs behaviour?
