🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE🚨

After careful consideration,
I have decided to discontinue our weekly Open Training sessions.

The LAST Open Training will take place on Thursday, 5 November, from 10:30 to 12:00.

💙 Price: 5 € per dog
No registration needed!

The reason for this change is that more people are interested in joining structured training courses, and I want to focus on providing the best possible training experience for every dog and handler.

🎓 WHAT'S COMING NEXT?

I will be starting a new Obedience / Puppy Course!

Together, we will explore:
🐾 How to communicate effectively with our dogs.

🐾 How dogs communicate with each other through body language.

🐾 How to build a strong relationship based on trust and understanding.

🐾 Practical obedience skills for everyday life.

My goal is to help you understand your dog better and build a stronger partnership together. ❤️

NOSEWORK 🐽🥸

From yesterday, when our beginner class got to try out "the wall." We saw many really great indications, and the dogs did such a good job!

😄 Next week, we’ll continue practicing indications using the wall, so the dogs become completely confident about exactly which scent they are supposed to indicate.

NEW TO A COURSE? 😄
VISITING SMART DOG ACADEMY FOR THE FIRST TIME? 👀🎉

First of all, a very warm welcome! 🤩
This is a place where you and your dog can grow together and enjoy fun activities.

When you arrive, there are a few rules to follow.
These are in place to ensure we always prioritize you and your dog, and to keep our club looking its best! 😄

Things to keep in mind:
🐾 Please make sure to walk your dog properly BEFORE the session to avoid any accidents (p*e or p**p) on the training grounds.

🐾 Keep your dog on a leash when taking them out of the car (unless I tell you otherwise, of course! ☺️)

🐾 Maintain a safe distance from other dogs. (Not all dogs are comfortable having another dog get too close.)

🐾 Do NOT enter the Agility or Hoopers rings unless you are currently in a class. These are not playgrounds; they are my workspace and your training area. This is also for your dog’s safety— To avoid injuries using the equipment without experience and knowledge.

🐾 ALWAYS bring treats or a toy.
At Smart Dog Academy, we want you to stay focused on your dog, and—of course—always reward them when they get things right!

🐾 Equipment: Please use a standard collar or harness and a regular leash.
(Absolutely NO prong collars, pinch collars, electronic collars, or choke chains. Also, please do not use retractable/flexi-leashes during class.)

From this morning’s obedience class.

Today, the puppies got to meet "The Elephant" 🐘 It was scary, exciting, and fun!

It’s perfectly normal for a dog to feel afraid—it’s nothing to worry about. The important thing is that the fear doesn’t linger, so we teach our puppies to feel secure with us.

Let your puppy explore, sniff things out, and experience their emotions. Support your puppy and be there for them.

We had such a great group of puppies today—they all did a wonderful job—and the owners were right there, supporting their puppies in the best possible way.

In today’s obedience class, we’ll be talking about fears—and how we can best support and help our dogs so that they feel secure with us. ☺️

For those of you coming to the NOSEWORK session, today you’ll get to try out "the wall." This is a brand-new addition to the club, designed to make things even easier for the dogs when we practice "indications" (marking a find). 😄

🐶💕 What I Focus on When RAISING My Puppy

The first months are all about building trust, confidence and good communication. ❤️

Here’s what I focus on with my own puppy:

🐾 Creating routines and clear expectations. Makes it easier for the puppy to know what is expected. 🗓️

🐾 Positive socialisation with people and other dogs. Take it nice and slow, meet dogs in the distance. (I don't walk up to everyone I meet in mercadona 🫣)

🐾 Environmental training to build confidence in different situations. Time and patience. 🌁

🐾 House training — with patience, because every puppy develops at their own pace!
Routines, I bring out the puppy at the same time everyday with maximum 2 hours in-between when I start. 🏡

🐾 Building a strong bond through play and interaction. I want the puppy to see me as a resource and some one to have fun with. 🏉

🐾 Teaching my puppy to follow my hand with a treat. That will make it easier when I'm teaching him different trixt or movement. I want my puppy close to me. 🍬

🐾 Practising recall while keeping my puppy safely on a lead. I only let the run free when I know there is no distraction in the beginning for a successful recall that I by time take use with a lot of distractions. 🐕💨

🐾 Teaching calmness and how to relax both indoors and outdoors. I stay calm with the puppy and have zero expectations, just relax. Might do some massage and talk really slow to calm down the situation. 😌

🐾 Making car rides a safe and positive experience. Bring them everywhere, even tho we might not going out. I do this because I don't want to have a car ride with expectations, I want calmness 🙏

🐾 Starting alone-time training from day one, with small steps. Closing the door by just going in to the bathroom. I want my puppy to feel safe at home and relax, that he doesn't need to fallow me everywhere 💕

✨ My biggest priority is building good communication first. When my puppy feels safe, understands me and enjoys being with me, we create the foundation for a happy, confident and fun life together.

Remember:
raising a puppy is not a race!
Every puppy is an individual, and patience, consistency and positive experiences make all the difference. 💗💙

This is how I raise and train my own puppy — sharing my approach and experience, not offering board-and-train services. 🐕
