Instagreen.eu

Instagreen.eu InstaGreen provides the healthiest and freshest local food experience.

InstaGreen grows vegetables, herbs and micro-greens in the middle of the city, without soil, only a little water and no pesticides, improving food quality and freshness while reducing waste and food miles. Once the produce is ready to eat, we bring them to the location of consumption where they are harvested by the chef cooks or their customers, right before enjoying the tastiest, freshest, healthiest and most sustainable produce possible, providing a unique experience.

BIG NEWS: InstaGreen has been selected!
We’re 1 of 10 SMEs in Hungry EcoCities – S+T+ARTS
In the next 14 months we will be working together with:

→ Innovators
→ Architects
→ Artists
→ AI Experts
→ Universities
→ And many other amazing specialists & creatives

Our goal is to come up with fresh & real solutions, for the challenge of indoor climatization for local urban farms, using minimal resources.

Indoor farming and hydroponic cultivation bring along many benefits for the cultivation of local sustainable food.

But this type of Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) can use a lot of energy to create the perfect indoor climate.

This challenge aims to explore innovative, low-tech climatization control systems that can be prototyped and tested.

Using natural phenomena and biomimicry, we want to develop a cost-effective, highly energy-efficient
solution for small indoor farms.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions in relation to this exciting project!

Question: if we can feed 60 billion land animals,
why cant we feed 8 billion humans?

Food loss at scale (*source: our world in data):
🌽 Half of the worlds habitable land is used for agriculture
🐄 80% of which for animals + their food.

While only 17% of our calorie supply comes from animals
And only 38% of our protein supply

Today, it is International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste Reduction

💡 What is better: High-Tech or Low-Tech ?
How do you know what’s the right answer?
…. Right-Tech, is our answer!

Our definition for Right-Tech for our innovations:
Only use High-Tech where it adds crucial value
And use Low-Tech for everything else

Often the Low-Tech solutions are:
→ Low cost
→ Low maintenance
→ Simple, easy, straightforward to use
→ Robust / fool proof
→ And stil repairable

With this in mind constantly, we designed our cultivation systems.
Using only “High-Tech” where crucial: LED-lights and automated irrigation.
And let natural things such as gravity and capillarity do the rest.

👩‍🌾 Saving microgreen farmers huge amounts of energy, water and time!

What Low-Tech solutions are you a real fan of?

Red Veined Sorrel - Next level microgreens 🌱
An amazing microgreen for summer salads and soups.
Surprisingly strong in flavour and nutrient powers:

It’s not only a beauty to look at with its elegant red veins.
It also brings this zesty-citrus sorrel flavour to the table.
Both sour, and slightly bitter. An amazing flavour enhancer!

It has the highest concentration of Beta Carotene.
Your body converts this into vitamin A.
Making it a powerful source for antioxidants!

To grow red veined sorrel, you need to be patient.
Take 3-4 weeks at least for the micro-greens.
And make sure the plant has enough access to nutrients

But once you get there….
Enjoy these rich beauties!
