HAPPY SUNDAY from COLIN ❤️
By chance I met COLIN, a Spanish water dog a few days ago ❤️ ❤️
He is a brave little fighter who was lucky enough to be taken in by a great couple who rescue pups, kittens, dogs from the campo - then rehabilitates & rehomes them ❤️
This is a long post but it is their words about Colin & I hope it may just land on the feed of the special person Colin needs🤞🤞
“He is a one-year-old dog whom we rescued—along with his siblings—when he was only a month and a half old. When we first took him in, he couldn’t walk; he would drag his entire body from the waist down. At first, they didn’t even want to let us have him, but we eventually managed to secure his care and began searching for solutions.
Since then, he has been seen by various orthopedic specialists and veterinarians, and has undergone numerous tests—including an MRI, a CT scan, X-rays, and other diagnostic studies—to determine the extent of his injuries and whether he might ever be able to walk.
He has a fracture in his hip and p***c bone which, we were told, could heal over time. The hope was that, by working on his muscles and gradually strengthening them, he might regain some of his mobility. And that is exactly what happened: little by little, he began to stand up and walk, albeit with difficulty. He has come a long way, especially considering his condition when we first rescued him.
The problem is that his physical limitations continue to affect his daily life. He cannot lift his leg properly to urinate, so he does so in a very peculiar way—much like a lawn sprinkler—which often results in him getting his own legs wet and soiled.
When he needs to defecate, he has to lie down on the ground and move his little legs to help push it out. Since he also cannot move his tail, he ends up getting it soiled as well. Sometimes, after finishing, he tries to stand back up, but he loses his balance, falls, and ends up getting dirty all over again.
For this reason he needs an environment adapted to his needs, smooth surfaces aren’t good as he slips. He needs care, frequent cleaning, patience & and understanding of a dog with limitations.
