Yesterday was a nice, cool day — perfect for a climb up to the Aljambra Torre, with me leading on Zalamero, followed by Holly on Balero and Nick on Copo.

🌾 Did You Know? 🌾
Horses can see almost all the way around them — nearly 360 degrees! 👀🐴
But they do have two blind spots: directly in front of their nose and right behind their tail. That’s why they rely on their incredible memory and wide-angle vision to stay safe.

Zalamero knows every inch of his walking routes here at Rancho Leandra… so when a scarecrow suddenly appeared in a field one day, he froze and stared for ages — just to make sure it wasn’t a real person! 😆

¡Los caballos pueden ver casi todo a su alrededor — casi 360 grados! 👀🐴
Pero tienen dos puntos ciegos: justo delante de la nariz y justo detrás de la cola. Por eso dependen mucho de su memoria y su visión periférica para sentirse seguros.

Zalamero conoce cada paso de sus paseos aquí en Rancho Leandra… así que cuando apareció un espantapájaros en un campo donde antes no había nada, ¡se quedó parado mirándolo fijamente durante un buen rato para ver si era una persona de verdad! 😆

🌾 Did You Know? 🌾
Horses can’t breathe through their mouths — only their noses! 🐴
Unlike humans, a horse’s anatomy doesn’t allow them to mouth-breathe, which is why respiratory health is so important for them, especially in hot weather or after exercise.

Here at Rancho Leandra, we keep a close eye on our horses’ breathing, especially our cheeky storyteller Zalamero… who always has his nose in everyone else’s business! 😄

A diferencia de los humanos, su anatomía no les permite respirar por la boca, por eso cuidar su salud respiratoria es fundamental, sobre todo con calor o después del ejercicio.

Aquí en Rancho Leandra siempre estamos atentos a esto… especialmente con nuestro curioso Zalamero, ¡que siempre anda metiendo la nariz donde no le llaman! 😄

Last evening, young Mhairi did a fantastic job keeping Zalamero cool with a refreshing shower—and Balero’s not missing out either, sneaking in from the sidelines! They’re both loving the cool spray in this summer heat. ☀️💦
