Before every walk, train the mindset first 🐕🧠

One of the biggest mistakes people make is opening the door while their dog is already overexcited, pulling, whining, spinning, or mentally at a 100/10. That energy doesn’t magically disappear outside… it usually gets worse.

A simple routine can completely change your walks 👇

✔ Put the leash on INSIDE the house
✔ Spend 3 minutes doing calm training
✔ Ask for a place command or relaxed sit
✔ Wait for your dog to fully settle before opening the door
✔ If they get hyper again, pause and reset calmly

This teaches your dog that calm behavior is what makes the walk happen 🚪🐾

Dogs that explode with excitement the second the leash comes out are much more likely to react to triggers, pull nonstop, ignore commands, and struggle to regulate themselves outside.

The goal is not to “drain energy” before the walk.
The goal is teaching emotional control before entering an exciting environment.

Be patient. Some dogs need repetition. But over time, your dog starts understanding:

Training starts inside the house, not outside on the sidewalk.

If your dog barks at every knock, hallway noise, door sound, or random apartment noise, the mistake most people make is waiting for the barking… then reacting to it.

You want to teach calm before the reaction happens.

Start in a low distraction area with really good rewards your dog actually cares about. Then make a sound so quiet that you’re almost certain your dog won’t react to it. Something simple like lightly knocking on a table.

The second your dog notices the sound and stays calm, mark it with “YES” and reward immediately.

After a few successful repetitions, slowly increase the volume. The goal is to work right below the level where your dog usually explodes into barking.

Once your dog understands the game, start adding more realistic sounds:
• Louder knocks
• Multiple sounds in a row
• Vacuum cleaner noises
• Apartment and hallway sounds
• Sounds coming from outside the room

You can also practice with separation. Put your dog in another room, make a sound outside the door, then open the door. If your dog stayed calm, mark and reward.

This is how you build neutrality instead of just trying to “stop barking.”

A calm dog is usually a dog that practiced staying calm in small manageable steps first 🐾

🚫 Struggling with potty training using pads? It’s not your puppy… it’s usually the setup.

Here are the most common mistakes👇

🐾 1. Too much freedom too soon
At the start, your puppy’s freedom should match your ability to supervise.
Can’t watch them? Then they shouldn’t have full access.

Use a puppy-proof area or keep them on a leash attached to you.
As they succeed, then you earn the right to give them more freedom. Not before.

🐾 2. Expecting them to “figure it out”
Putting a pad down is not training.

Take your puppy to the pad:
➡️ After meals
➡️ After drinking
➡️ After naps
➡️ After play
➡️ Before confinement

Stand there, stay boring, and wait.
The moment they go in the right spot → mark it with a big YES! 🎉 then reward.

🐾 3. Dirty pads
Would you want to use a dirty bathroom? Neither does your puppy.

Clean or replace pads daily 🧼
A clean spot makes it much easier for them to choose correctly.

🐾 4. Blaming the dog
Accidents are feedback, not bad behavior.

It usually means:
➡️ Too much freedom
➡️ Not enough potty breaks

Stay consistent. Stick to the plan.
That’s how accidents disappear.

🐶 Potty training isn’t luck. It’s structure, timing, and consistency.

If your puppy is struggling, fix the system… and the results will follow.
