It all started with Emma.
A tiny Rottweiler puppy, born in a backyard in Cairo during winter. She was the only one of her litter to survive the first week. .hassan_bakr advised that if she was to make it, she needed to be taken in and cared for properly — so Ellie brought her home and bottle-fed her.
Emma grew into a beautiful, strong dog and quickly became something very special to us.
Later, in Marsa Alam, she was accidentally poisoned — the target was the local baladi dogs. She didn’t survive, and we lost her far too soon.
With a lot of motivation from , we turned that loss into something meaningful. We started castrating and vaccinating local dogs and cats, doing what we could to improve their lives.
Seven years later, that work is still going — now in Hurghada, with more dogs at home and even more TNR in the community.
Emma was the beginning of it all.
Thank you, Emma.
Forever loved.

Lucy 💛

After a fractured back leg, followed by a leg and tail amputation, and months spent in a kennel… Lucy came to us for a couple of weeks to recover, rest, and just be again.

And now — she’s exactly where she belongs.

Lucy has moved into her forever home, back outside, running free, surrounded by puppies and horses 🐎

Watching her step back into the life she knew, on her own terms, is everything we could have hoped for — and more.

We couldn’t be happier for you, sweet girl. This is your new beginning ✨

Our current medical boarding crew is… a full-time job and a half 😅🐾

Oreo – decided a dog bite wound was a good idea. Now on antibiotics, tie-over bandage, and regular vet dates. 0/10, do not recommend.

Bindy – Nakari royalty 👑
Limping, some lumbar spine drama, and more tests (maybe even surgery). She’s not done with us yet and we’re not done with her 💛

Tilly – ulna fracture fixed last week and already doing her “look how well I’m healing” walk. Antibiotics on board and taking it (mostly) easy.

Caramella – same fracture, different attitude… healing is not her priority apparently 😅 We’ll reassess and hope she skips the sequel surgery 🤞

Judy – biggest glow-up award goes to this girl. Blood parasites gone, now onto weight gain, spay & vaccines.

Huge shoutout to Ark Clinic for always making space for our chaos and handling our complicated kiddos like pros 🙏🐶

❤️

🌙🐾 Late night medication round at Furry Shoals 💊

It was somewhat part of the plan… just maybe not four dogs on midnight rounds 😅

Bindy: too sick to argue, just quietly gets through it 💔
Dahab: good girl, no fuss at all 💛
Oreo: absolutely losing it — would like 20 more please 🍪
Tilly: tiny drama queen… but make it adorable 💗

A little chaotic, very late… but always worth it

Meet Tillie 💚

This little story is exactly why we do what we do 💛 Meet Matilda—a total sweetheart with a slightly clumsy streak, who somehow managed to break her elbow. After a visit to The Ark veterinary clinic for surgery, she upgraded immediately to VIP status and came straight to us for her recovery stay.

For the next 2–3 weeks, Matilda will be lounging, healing, and being spoiled with all the care, wound checks, and quiet time she needs. She’s also on a course of doxycycline to tackle some blood parasites and getting all the support to stay comfy and tick-free.

And honestly? You’d never guess what she’s been through. She’s gentle, super friendly, and already sprinkling in a bit of sass and charm 🐶✨

🐾 Furry Shoal Update 🐾

Current headcount: 11 dogs… yes, ELEVEN 😅
At this point we’re basically running a full-service dog hotel (with extra chaos included).

Here’s the breakdown:
• 3 little patients are medical boarders 🏥
• 1 is just here for a casual staycation 🐶
• 1 superstar is (hopefully!) getting adopted in the next few days 🤞
• And the rest? Permanent chaos crew ❤️

We’ve also started joining TNR Hurghada at least twice a week for their castration missions and supporting TNVR projects around Hurghada — and honestly, they’re doing an amazing job. We’re very happy to be part of it 🙌

Health updates from the gang:
• Judy is healing beautifully and finally putting on some weight 💪
• Our tiny fluffy patient (you know who you are 😄) is still getting VIP treatment at the vet every 2–3 days for a pretty big wound
• Bernie’s skin and scars are improving so nicely 🩶
• Dahab = thriving ✨
• Cesa = doing great post-surgery 👑

All in all… it’s loud, it’s messy, it’s a bit insane — but we wouldn’t have it any other way ❤️🐕

Thanks for being part of this journey with us!
