How to prevent kidney failure?

Someone asked this question in a comment. And it’s transferred to me.

First of all, this is also the way I use in treating these cases. Most of the cats in the whole world die with kidney issues so why and how to prevent it?

I will go briefly.

1- Water.

I do not say lack of drinking, actually drinking a lot means the kidney needs to work more. So it’s not about the amount but the source of water.

Most of the water your cat drinks from (And even you my dear) is not healthy. And full of Cloride, or even other metals that cause kidney failure

2- Artificial food.

Any food with preservatives. Any food that is injected with vaccines, hormones, or even medications. Clear enough?

3- Plastics.

Everywhere, in the environment, imagine that their bodies do have plastic from everything they eat in or drink in or even walk in.

4- Prednisolone, and other drugs.

Many medications that are probably in every vet prescription. corticosteroids, NSAIDs, and appetite stimulants, extra. They won’t tell you that.

So normally medicine likes to go to the war to fight without knowing the consequences or caring about it.

5- Bad understanding of the diseases.

So medicine usually attacks the end result not the reason. So if a cake fell down to the floor, the ants will come in hours. Medicine keeps spraying the ante. Not removing the cake.

So when there is a hair loss, inflammationin teeth, a squamous cell carcinoma or even other usual common diseases. We go for AB, Anti inflammatory (or even prednisolone)

While that is the end result, it is a reflection of an internal issue, the kidney or the liver are suffering from detoxification processes. And when they can not handle it, it expresses it outside them. As a hair loss, or such issues. So imagine to treat the end result, you hurt a major organ.

6- Keeping the inflammatory processes going on. And when you have IBD, and trying to treat it. You hurt other organs. Because the body works as a unite. And while you add more inflammation due to bad habbit, food, water, lifestyle, drugs, it ends up with kidney failure while you were treating a pancreatitis or IBD.

7- Finally, when you treat the heart issues, you help the heart and k!ll the kidney. Although you spent lots of $$$ for the cardiologist.

Note that usually medicine can not treat kidney failure. Although you spend a lot in lab works, ultrasound, treatment, fluids and special diet. And For Azodyl, Epaktine, and others… And the end result? Either to put to sleep. Or unfortunately it ends.

So let’s not reach to it. And let’s understand the general idea and cover it first. And prevention is better than treatment.

There is more but not everything can be written clearly.

🌿 What Is Holistic Veterinary Medicine - and How Does It Complement Conventional Care? 🌿

Holistic veterinary medicine does not replace conventional medicine. It works 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝘁.

Conventional veterinary medicine focuses on:

• Accurate diagnosis
• Emergency care
• Surgery
• Medications when they are needed and lifesaving

Holistic veterinary medicine looks at the whole patient, not just a single symptom. It asks:

• Why did this problem develop?
• What factors are contributing to it?
• How can we support the body’s ability to heal and recover?

A holistic approach may include:

• Nutrition and diet optimization
• Gut health and microbiome support
• Stress reduction and environmental factors
• Supplements and natural therapies (when appropriate)
• Supporting organs like the liver, kidneys, and immune system during or after medical treatment

The goal is not to avoid medications, but to:

• Use them wisely
• Reduce unnecessary long-term side effects
• Improve quality of life
• Support chronic and complex cases that don’t respond to medication alone

In many cases, the best outcomes come from combining both approaches:

• Conventional medicine for diagnosis and stabilization
• Holistic support for long-term balance, recovery, and prevention
• This integrated approach is especially helpful for:
• Chronic conditions (IBD, allergies, kidney disease, arthritis, diabetes, recurrent urinary conditions etc)
• Recurring issues
• Patients who are sensitive to medications
• Cases where symptoms keep returning despite “normal” test results

Sharing one of my cases:

Kitty and Bondoka are two female cats, over 10 years old, who came to me in July 2023 at one of the clinics where I used to work. They were suffering from constipation and diarrhea, and both were overweight.

The owner initially came because their stool smelled very bad. She had already visited several clinics and received different diagnoses.

On examination, even just using a thermometer, I found runny stool and an inflamed re**um.

I diagnosed both cats with IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). They were already on prednisolone and some other medications. However, I took blood samples because I also suspected a liver issue and possibly diabetes (without an ultrasound).

The lab results confirmed my diagnosis perfectly. There was a slight elevation in liver enzymes, indicating hepatocellular damage, and elevated fructosamine, which is a key marker for diagnosing diabetes in cats.

Without insulin injections or prednisone, I managed to treat both cats in less than one month using the right systemic diet, lifestyle changes, and treatment plan.

To this day, both cats are healthy, happy, and continue to follow up with me privately. In the chat, you can see that the owner regularly checks their blood sugar and reports the results to me.

Treating IBD, liver issues, and diabetes in such a short period of time is truly a blessing. Understanding how the body works, and recognizing the liver as a key factor in conditions like diabetes and IBD, helped guide their treatment.

And yes, both cats were at an early stage of the disease. I was confident that continuing prednisone - the main drug often used for IBD - would have caused the condition to worsen and further damage the liver. That was the fatal mistake I avoided.

The owner tells me about the readings without even injecting Insulin!

One hour after a meal!

Photo 3 of 3:

The owner shared updated results and reported that the diarrhea had improved with treatment and that stool consistency was better regulated. I explained that this improvement indicates the digestive system has started to function more effectively, with improved absorption and utilization of nutrients, resulting in reduced stool volume. This clinical response suggests that the IBD is responding well to treatment.
