Riley had been hit by a car.
Broken bones. Cuts everywhere. Pain that no living being should have to endure alone. And still, he was alive.
And maybe compassion works both ways.
Maybe every time we choose to help, something in our own heart becomes softer, stronger, and more awake.
Please don’t be blind to suffering.

So much work, love, sacrifice, and hope has gone into this Freedom Flight. Our team has worked day and night. So many people donated, shared, encouraged, and believed in this mission. Shelters and rescue partners are waiting with open arms.
And our animals are still waiting for the chance they were promised.
The postponement is heartbreaking. We know how many people have invested their time, trust, resources, and emotions into making this happen.
At the same time, Dominica faced heavy rains and strong winds over the weekend. Under these weather conditions, the flight would not have been possible safely.
But we want to be very clear:
We have come too far to give up now.
We will do everything in our power to reschedule the Freedom Flight as soon as possible and to bring these dogs and cats safely to the homes, shelters, and futures waiting for them.
To our donors, partners, volunteers, receiving shelters, and supporters: thank you for standing with us.
This is not the end of the journey.
It is a delay.
And we will keep fighting until they fly.

We are very grateful for the donations, but equally we value that the team from J. Astaphan came all the way to the Kali...

We are very grateful for the donations, but equally we value that the team from J. Astaphan came all the way to the Kalinago Territory to deliver the donations. It is much needed as we weren’t able to find bugged rice lately. Thank you so much. If you want to help and donate, please get in touch.

It is with great disappointment that we share that our Freedom Flight scheduled for this weekend has been postponed due to unexpected flight and logistical issues.

After months of preparation by our team, volunteers, veterinary partners, receiving rescues, and supporters, we know this news is heartbreaking for everyone involved.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has followed and supported this journey. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued encouragement.

We hope to share more information and a new travel plan very soon.

Every day, our students show what compassion in action looks like.

During the preparations for the Freedom Flight, they stepped up to help make this mission possible: vaccinating the animals, doing blood work, preparing documents and completing the medical requirements needed for entry into the United States.

Thank you to every student who gave their time, energy, knowledge and heart to help 140 animals get ready for their journey to a new life.

At St. Nicholas University: School of Veterinary Medicine, learning does not only happen in the classroom. Our students gain real hands-on experience, working directly with animals, supporting rescue efforts and becoming the kind of veterinarians the world needs.

This is what future vets are made of. 🐾

5 days to go.
Today, our dogs are moving into the pre-flight kennels.
Every crate, every car ride, every pair of helping hands brings them one step closer to the life they have been waiting for.
In 5 days, the Freedom Flight takes off.
And for so many souls, everything will change.
We still need trucks, volunteers, donations and shares to get them safely from the shelter to the sky.
Please help us finish this mission.

140 dogs and cats are now confirmed for the Freedom Flight, 140 chances to leave the shelter and start again.
But to make this happen, we urgently need help on the ground.
We need trucks and volunteers to help transport the animals from Castle Bruce to the airport safely and on time.

If you can help with transport, provide a truck, volunteer your time, or offer support, please call:
