I finally got to have a play in the sea. It isn’t a holiday until you’ve been to the beach! In Denmark you have to be on the lead and I was but Mums used iPhone magic to remove lead from some photos.

I haven’t been dog bagged for a while 😔 didn’t think about that when getting all sandy.

My recent health escapades have highlighted the importance of having good pet insurance in place.

Mums a bit biased here 😜 but has always made sure that she opts for lifetime cover and understanding how vet costs can quickly escalate always picked the highest level available.

Getting older it isn’t cheap and the cost of this against the level selected is something carefully considered each year so I am covered up to £15,000 with Many Pets.

The total for my spleen/urine infection is now standing at a total of £7501.03. There is a 20% copay due to my age.

Of which £47.00 was for delaying trip and having to rebook Le Shuttle crossing. It’s worth noting this is cheap due to vanlife if this had been a typical holiday this could have been much higher.

The claims process has been very simple. The smaller invoices have been paid within hours and of course the bigger one has taken a little longer. We’ve also used the free FirstPets vet service a few times as well.

Another pupdate! Results back today and a small urine infection has been found. So it appears two things happened simultaneously as urine infection caused us to find the spleen mass, luckily before it burst. Urine tested for cancer and this is also clear. I’ve been given fit to travel so Monday I am off on my trip with Dad and Mum joins us later.

Sporting here my new Adria Van bandana.

Also received this new Woody Wagon today. This one converts to a buggy as well as a bike trailer for flexibility when travelling as it may help with access 😜 apparently it’s designed for hooman pups but the seat comes out and I can put a nice comfy bed in there.

Quick update as I’ve had a CT scan today. Although initially we didn’t think this was needed, there were small traces of blood in urine on Thursday’s test and I then had a bout of diarrhoea and sickness resulting in a trip to vets at 1am Tuesday morning.

CT results are overall positive as nothing significant found. Small 1mm nodule on lung but this may be age related material. Only way to be sure would be to repeat CT in 3 months. A urine test is being re run too.

Today I had a visit to the posh vets Aura in Guildford. I’m looking a bit sad here as wasn’t allowed breakfast this morning 😭. Although how cool are these waiting room booths!

I had a few more tests but only blood and urine as the other tests are not indicating any concrete evidence for cancer. This may not rule it out definitely but is enough that Mum and Dad didn’t think it was right to do CT scan or more detailed tests at this stage.

Vet was super impressed with me! Apparently my toilet on commmand phrase has been the first time they’ve ever seen it actually happen 🌟

No calcium in urine so again this is a positive sign and we will hear back as soon as bloods and urine results have been analysed.

I just wanted to share a little health update with you all. I have recently had an operation to remove my spleen following discovery of a mass. The X-ray also indicated nodules in my lung so the initial diagnosis was to suspect cancer. The biopsy results came back yesterday and no cancer has been detected. We have been advised to proceed with cautious optimism. The pawrents may still put me through a few more tests to ensure I get an all clear before fully confident.

Holibobing with the pawrents in Keswick for a few days. A couple of ducks wanted to come to dinner by the looks of it 😜 but I wasn’t allowed to say hello to the swan. All going well until Mum and Dad found a dog wash facility 😡 so unfortunately I cannot rate this place as highly as I’d like. Kevin Petersen Wendy Petersen
