2025 was a year of transformation – and a year in which we grew: in projects, responsibility and collaboration.

With the joining of forces between VSB and TotalEnergies we took an important step within a shared strategic direction. A step that shows how we combine strengths, experience and innovation to drive the energy transition forward with determination. 💪

And the global momentum was unmistakable: in the first three quarters of 2025, wind and solar supplied 17.6% of the world’s electricity — nearly a fifth — lifting low-carbon sources to around 43% of total generation.

2025 also made clear what truly matters: committed people, technical expertise and the ability to deliver complex projects reliably – across countries, technologies and markets. The result is a strong foundation for the future, with a growing project pipeline, new connections and a shared sense of responsibility for a more reliable, sustainable and affordable energy supply.

Our thanks go to all employees who help shape this journey with their expertise, dedication and team spirit. 🙌 We also thank our partners, customers and everyone who accompanies us on the path towards a sustainable energy future – for their trust, collaboration and shared conviction. 🤝

Faster permitting is key to Europe’s clean energy future. 🌎

Across the continent, lengthy and complicated permitting procedures remain one of the biggest obstacles to expanding renewable energy. However, a shift is underway: An increasing number of countries are reforming their approval processes to accelerate the deployment of wind and solar energy.

Catalonia is one of the most recent examples. With its new Decree-Law, the Spanish region is designed to cut permitting times, and the regional government expects average timelines to drop from around three years to about 18 months. At the same time, the reform introduces clear rules for battery storage, citizen participation and grid integration. 🗓️

Importantly, Catalonia is not alone. Denmark, Finland and others already demonstrate that efficient and transparent permitting is possible – and a crucial success factor for the large-scale rollout of renewables. These are not isolated exceptions, but increasingly recognised best-practice models for others to follow.

At VSB Group, we believe that accelerating permitting processes is essential to unlocking Europe’s full renewable energy potential. Smart regulation must enable progress – not hinder it. ⚡️

Let’s set the record straight: Infrasound from wind turbines has often been blamed for causing illness. However, scientific evidence clearly shows that at the infrasound levels occurring in residential areas, no harmful health effects have been demonstrated.

Multiple studies, including a major long-term study by Finland’s VTT, have found no measurable health effects from turbine-related infrasound. 🧠

So where does the myth come from? Largely from a 2009 German study in which a significant calculation error was later identified. This error was corrected in a peer-reviewed publication in 2021, resulting in the calculated infrasound levels being revised downward by more than 30 dB. Yet misinformation continues to circulate.

We base our projects on facts, not fear – which is why we engage with communities at an early stage and ensure that health and wellbeing are always integral to our approach to responsible project development.
Let’s replace myths with facts and shape the energy transition with confidence! 💙

Construction has started in the Hochsauerland district: Work on the Arnsberg/Oeventrop wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia is now underway. The project will comprise three wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 18 megawatts – enough to cover the annual electricity demand of around 25,000 people and to further strengthen the supply of low‑carbon energy in the region.

The wind farm is being built on managed forest and clear-cut areas in the Arnsberg Forest, making planning, construction and environmental protection particularly demanding. In close cooperation with the relevant authorities and forestry offices, we are establishing approximately 70,000 square metres of new, site‑adapted mixed deciduous forest – contributing to an energy transition that balances ecological responsibility with regional value creation.

We are proud to help drive the dynamic expansion of renewable energies in North Rhine-Westphalia and see this project as an important momentum for further VSB developments in NRW.

⚡ Power Purchase Agreements: A Strategic Advantage for Companies

Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) are long-term contracts between companies and renewable energy producers. By committing to purchase a defined amount of clean electricity at an agreed price, companies gain access to reliable, predictable energy costs – while actively contributing to the expansion of renewable energy.
A PPA is more than just a commercial contract – it’s a gateway to a sustainable future. With a clear, long-term framework, PPAs empower businesses to integrate environmentally responsible, economically sound energy solutions into their operations.

🌟 Key Benefits of Power Purchase Agreements:
🔹 Long-term cost stability: PPAs help companies lock in energy prices for years to come, reducing exposure to market volatility and supporting better budget planning.
🔹 Achieving sustainability goals: By sourcing a significant share of electricity from renewable energy, companies can make measurable progress toward their ESG and decarbonisation targets.
🔹 Regulatory compliance: In many countries, companies are required to use a minimum share of renewable energy. PPAs offer an efficient way to meet these requirements while benefiting from economic advantages.

At VSB Group, we recognized the potential of PPAs early on. With Europe’s first automotive PPA in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Polska, we set a milestone for innovative energy solutions. Additional PPAs with Lhyfe and Carrefour followed – strengthening our contribution to a greener, more resilient energy future. 🌿

Wind Energy in Forests – A Win for Climate and Nature 🌿💨

Why install wind turbines in forests instead of open fields? The answer is simple: many forest areas are commercially used monocultures – mainly spruce or pine – that suffer greatly from drought, storms, and bark beetle infestations. These sites can host wind turbines without harming valuable natural habitats. 🌳

Each turbine requires only about 0.5 hectares of land, often on already damaged or modified areas. At the same time, reforestation efforts are undertaken – often with more climate-resilient tree species that help forests become healthier, more stable, and more biodiverse over time. In this way, commercial forests gradually transform into richer, more natural ecosystems.

Wind energy in forests benefits the climate by creating a sustainable balance between energy production, climate protection, and forest ecology. 🌍💚

Even more energy from wind for France: the Eoliennes de Fadoumal wind farm has been commissioned in the windy highlands of Arzenc-de-Randon.

🌬️ 6 Enercon E82 wind turbines
⚡Total capacity: 13.8 MW
💡 The annual energy yield can supply more than 13,000 people with clean electricity.
🌍 Potential to avoid around 8,400 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.

This is a special project for us: the Eoliennes de Fadoumal wind farm is located at an altitude of 1,420 metres – an extraordinary location that posed particular challenges during the construction phase due to cold temperatures and snowfall. In addition, all turbines are equipped with a latest-generation avifauna detection system. 💚

🌞 Solar isn’t just rising – it’s leading.

📊 Solar is now the largest and fastest-growing source of new electricity worldwide — the latest Global Electricity Review by Ember says it loud and clear. In just three years, global solar output has doubled, surpassing 2,000 TWh – with a record-breaking 474 TWh added in 2024 alone.
At VSB Group, we’re not just witnessing this transformation – we’re driving it.

In Löberitz, Germany, we’re developing our first hybrid project in the Saxony-Anhalt region. Together with Stadtwerke Bitterfeld-Wolfen, we’re building a 19 MWp solar park and repowering the Löberitz Wind Farm with modern Vestas turbines to reach 21.6 MW – all connected through our VSB substation in Salzfurtkapelle. ⚡

Meanwhile, in France, we turned a former gravel pit into something powerful: the Soleil de Balsac Solar Park. Built on a reclaimed gravel and clay extraction site, the 9.2 MWp project now delivers 10,550 MWh annually, powering over 5,000 households. Originally planned at 5 MWp, the project nearly doubled in scale through technical optimization – a clear reflection of VSB’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and efficient land use. 🌱

These projects are only two of 36 solar PV parks we’ve developed across Europe – proof of our belief that solar isn’t just the future, it’s the now.
