Archtop-Forum 2017 – wieder ein Himmel voller Jazzgitarren

Am 21. November 2015 fand in der Stadthalle in Kandel/Pfalz das international besetzte Archtop-Forum statt. Es wurde zu 'dem' Treffpunkt für die Fans dieser besonderen Gitarrengattung, die aus dem Bereich des Jazz, Swing, Blues, Pop und Rock nicht wegzudenken ist. So haben wir nun entschieden, die Veranstaltung auch in 2017 weiter zu führ

en. Eine wichtiger Punkt war dabei unter anderem die Wahl des Veranstaltungsorts. Wir haben dieses Thema ausführlich in unserem Team diskutiert. Letztendlich haben wir nun erneut die Stadthalle Kandel ausgewählt. In 2017 versuchen wir, dass ein unbegrenztes Parken auf dem, zu diesem Zeitpunkt freien Marktplatz, möglich ist. Zudem wollen wir am Freitag vor und am Samstag nach der Veranstaltung sowie am Sonntag für eine Möglichkeit des Austauschs und Jammens an einem noch zu definierenden Ort sorgen. Das Archtop-Forum selbst findet jedoch wieder nur an diesem einen Tag, Samstag, den 4. Wir fangen jetzt schon mal an, alles im Detail zu planen - also trag Du/tragen Sie diesen Termin schon einmal rot markiert im Kalender 2017 ein. Wir freuen uns schon jetzt auf diesen Tag mit Dir/Ihnen!

Archtop Forum 2017 - again a sky full of Jazzguitars

On November 21st, 2015, the internationally staffed Archtop-Forum took place at the townhall in Kandel / Pfalz . It became 'the' meeting point for fans of this particular guitar genre that is an integral part of the field of jazz, swing, blues, pop and rock. So we have decided to continue the event in 2017. An important point was, among other things, the choice of venue. We have discussed this issue in detail in our team. Finally, we selected the townhall in Kandel, again. In 2017, we try to arrange an unlimited parking on the marketplace. We also want to provide an opportunity for exchange and jamming on a yet to be defined place on Friday before and Saturday after the event and even on Sunday. But the Archtop-Forum itself only takes place this one day, Saturday, November 4th, 2017 - the way we did in 2015. Now we begin to plan everything in detail - while you add this date marked in red in your 2017th calendar. We are looking forward to this day with you.

Due to the current circumstances I changed the concept, both of us play solo-guitar from our home an you can follow the concert from your own couch … good for our dog, so he doesn’t has to share his favorite place. New recording “tiny things” released on Bandcamp, iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify & Amazon Music

For more than two decades I did a concert series called “two guitars”. As a result of that, I came up with this recording with Libor Šmoldas and Federico Carnevali. All of the tunes are contrafacts, which means songs based on Jazz Standards. I’m interested in the concept of a composition and then interpreting it in my own way. Mostly you won’t recognize the original and from time to time, even I forget the origin of certain tunes.
Libor is a Prague based guitarist, with whom I’ve been playing mostly duo for a couple of years. Based in the standard jazz tradition, he’s a very creative and open minded musician. We recorded in his living room with a view onto the beautiful Vyšehrad castle. (right before his kids came back from school.)
Federico and I are both playing a semi guitar by Stefan Schottmüller. Federico lives near my place in Italy, so we met, played together and he introduced me to the jazz scene of Arezzo. We recorded in my kitchen at the end of January in the Casentino mountains, with the wood-burning stove running and some coffee and wine which granted a cozy atmosphere.
Thanks to Libor and Federico for their wonderful playing, to my son Carl for the photo and my daughter Luisa for the artwork … and of course to my wife Julia for everything.

Liebe Archtop-Freunde, dieses Jahr wird es sicher kein Archtop-Forum geben. Es ist aktuell nicht möglich, eine Präsenzveranstaltung zu planen beziehungsweise durchzuführen. Wir werden jetzt erst einmal unsere Priorität darauf lenken, dass wir und alle anderen gesund und möglichst unbeschadet aus der aktuellen Corona-Pandemie heraus kommen. Wir halten euch auf dem Laufenden.

Dear Archtop friends, there will be no Archtop forum this year. It is currently not possible to plan or conduct a face-to-face event. We will first of all put our priority on ensuring that we and everyone else can get out of the current corona pandemic in a healthy and unscathed manner. We'll keep you up to date.
