Spring is here, and most breeds of dogs experience a mass shedding during the spring and fall as the weather changes and temperatures go to extremes.

Shedding is a normal part of your pet’s hair-growth cycle.
Each hair undergoes three phases:

1️⃣ Anagen Phase: The initial active growth period of a new hair.
2️⃣ Catagen Phase: A transitional period during which growth stops.
3️⃣ Telogen Phase: The resting phase that lasts until the hair falls out.

🐩 In breeds such as Poodles and Shih Tzus, their hair grows continuously until it reaches a genetically predetermined length. Following this growth phase, the hair transitions into a resting period known as the telogen phase, during which new hair begins to grow, displacing the old hair. This cycle of growth, rest, and shedding underscores the importance of regular grooming to keep their coat healthy and attractive. While these breeds do shed, it occurs sporadically, with variations in shedding levels among individuals.

🐕 Other pets have a telogen-dominated hair cycle where a brief anagen phase (between one month and a year) produces short hair that is kept during a longer telogen phase, which can last for several years.

Compostable or recyclable, which is actually better for the planet? 🌍

It might seem like compostable packaging is the obvious winner. But after years of using it (and digging deep into the data), the truth is a bit more complicated.

The reality? Compostable packaging doesn’t always break down the way you think, especially without access to industrial composting. Meanwhile, recyclable materials like aluminum and rPET may actually outperform compostables in durability, infrastructure, and environmental impact.
