As of May 2026, tick activity across almost all of Czech Republic has reached 4/5 risk level, meaning there is a high chance of ticks attaching during walks, hikes and outdoor activities 🐾

The 3 main tick species currently found in Czech Republic are:

🔴 Ixodes ricinus
The #1 threat and the most widespread tick in CZ

🟠 Dermacentor reticulatus
Also known as the ornate dog tick, rapidly expanding across the country

🟡 Ixodes hexagonus
Less known, but also found on dogs and cats

The regions with the highest encephalitis risk currently include:
📍 South Bohemia
📍 Liberec Region
📍 Zlín Region
📍 Vysočina

However, the entire Czech Republic is considered a positive risk area.

After every walk:
✔️ Check ears, neck, paws and belly
✔️ Avoid tall wet grass when possible
✔️ Keep tick prevention updated
