Can anyone please help? 🙏
We have an absolute crisis situation in Paphos and island wide, that has reached an inconceivable level in the last 24 hours.
It is absolutely heartbreaking and we could post dozens of pictures of the poor souls, to pull at your heart strings, but that will just cause extreme empathy fatigue and even vicarious trauma in some of our followers abroad - who can do nothing to help currently.
Whilst cats love boxes, newborn litters have been dumped in them, in bins or in colonies. There are also older litters that have been abandoned, plus a Mother and baby unsafe at a hotel and temporary fostering needed for a few cats that are to be rehomed abroad soon.
TNR needs to be increased and there needs to be consequences for the humans that leave kittens to die. In the meantime we need solutions FAST or they will die.
Existing Foster carers are to their limits, as mixing litters can cause fatal illnesses to spread. We need the wider community to step up and help with those that are easier to care for.
We understand fully that 2 hourly feeding of newborns is exhausting, but could you care for even a single weaned or partially weaned kitten whilst our more experienced volunteers feed the newborns? Or let the Mother and her baby stay in your secure garden? Or temporarily foster a cat pre flight?
If you can not accommodate could you help trap/collect/do vet runs within the area(we desperately need help Tuesday and Wednesday as so many existing volunteers are on holiday!)?
We have milk, food, crates, bedding, medicines and stimulation toys thanks to our amazing supporters. We will fundraise for ongoing costs(we have BIG fun plans) if you are unable to take on any percentage of the costs yourself.
We are at breaking point, any temporary relief will be appreciated, because their lives truly are at risk.
