•Feeding Bettas
One of the most common causes of betta fish illnesses comes from owners not realising they are putting too much food in the tank. This can bloat the fish and any spare food will sink to the bottom and then become waste – dirtying the water.
Betta fish are carnivorous animals. In the wild they hunt insects, larvae and insect eggs from the water’s surface. So this means that your betta should be eating a meat / protein based fish food.
Be careful, some of the standard tropical fish flakes do not match the betta fish diet. If your betta shares a tank with other fish you will have to take into account the diet of all the fish.

👉🏼Dinner time for Bettas 👈🏼
Bettas have upturned mouths and primarily feed on the water's surface. A good diet consists of dried bloodworms, brine shrimp or daphnia. Commercial betta food or pellets are best because it combines all three foods, in addition to vitamins and minerals. This improves the betta's brilliant coloring and longevity. It is a common misconception that peace lilies or plant roots grown out of "betta vases" can sustain the fish. Nothing could be farther than the truth! Bettas cannot survive on plant roots and need a diet high in protein and fiber to survive.

•Can Betta Fish Live With Other Fish?
With ample space and hiding areas, female bettas may be able to live in a peaceful group. While males will fight with other males and male gouramis (a similar-looking species), they may be able to live singly in a “community” aquarium containing certain other docile species of fish, such as Cory catfish, kuhli loaches, or guppies. They can also cohabitate with nonfish species, including snails, ghost shrimp, and frogs.
If aggression becomes an issue in any community tank, you should keep and maintain a separate, working quarantine aquarium in which individuals can be placed to avoid conflict with other fish.
