📢 New review on water intake and quality in livestock and poultry nutrition

Associate Professor Konstantinos V. Arsenopoulos and Assistant Professor Manos C. Vlasiou from the School of Veterinary Medicine, together with first-year DVM student Dionie Smith Diakidi, have co-authored a review article published in the peer-reviewed journal Water.

The publication was produced in collaboration with researchers from Greece, Ireland and Switzerland, and examines the role of water in livestock and poultry nutrition, with particular attention to both water intake and water quality.

The lecture “Introduction to Commonly Kept Exotic Species” is currently underway, delivered by Dr Panayiotis Azmanis, Specialist in Avian Medicine and expert in exotic, zoo, and wildlife veterinary care.

🌿 The lecture introduces students to commonly kept exotic species, with a focus on:
• birds, reptiles, and small mammals
• basic biology and key characteristics
• husbandry and environmental requirements
• foundational principles for clinical management in practice

A valuable session equipping future veterinarians with essential knowledge in exotic animal care.

📢 The School of Veterinary Medicine is participating in a newly funded research project in collaboration with veterinary partners in Norway.

The project is being carried out with Norwegian Private Veterinary Services, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. It will examine regenerative agriculture and microbiome science, with a focus on farm animals and soil health.
