WHO WE ARE
Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue CR is an animal rescue project in Costa Rica founded by four women with one thing in common: an unconditional love of animals. They met one day while volunteering at a local spay & neuter clinic in a small mountain

village and, because of their common concern for abandoned and neglected animals, decided to form the organization. Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue CR offers temporary care and residence for abandoned dogs and cats, that are often in an extreme physical condition or victims of abuse. Once the recovery is complete, the animal will be given up for adoption, only after being vaccinated, spayed or neutered by our organization. Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue CR survives thanks to the contribution of volunteers and donors, who care about abandoned, abused or neglected animals. Some volunteers provide their professional assistance in areas such as fundraising, educational workshops, spay and neuter clinics etc. Others simply provide affection and love to the dogs by taking care of their daily needs. Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue CR has no financial partners or fixed income. Every day we work hard to try to get the necessary funds together in order to continue on our mission. HOW DOES CHARLIE’S ANGELS WORK? Charlie’s Angels is a foster home based rescue organisation for dogs and cats, who are often victims of extreme cases of abuse and neglect, in need of temporary shelter and rehabilitation. All the animals taken in by our organization are given a complete health check, before moving into foster homes. Once the animal is fully recovered and re-socialized, it will be given up for responsible adoption within Costa Rica, or possibly in the USA and Canada. THE 3 CHARLIE’S ANGELS PROGRAMS:​​


1. Spay & neuter clinics

These campaigns are carried out regularly in the rural neighborhood and also in surrounding villages. We offer the community the possibility to have their dogs and cats (male and female) fixed at a reduced cost, offering discounts to pet owners with low incomes. The price includes post-operative drugs and care. All surgeries are performed by a veterinarian who is licensed by the Costa Rican Professional Veterinary Association. The vets are trained and authorized to safely perform these operations.



2. Foster care homes

This program consists of placing neglected and abused animals in the temporary shelter of a foster family, if we have an overflow in our rescue centre. Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue CR offers the volunteering families in this program a monthly package of food, de-worming pills and other required medical attention. A dog bed or crate is also supplied to make the animal feel comfortable and at home. A volunteer from Charlie’s Angels regularly visits the foster home to give support, supervision, and assistance.

3. Final adoption

Thanks to our constant social media presence and international networking, Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue CR finds permanent homes for our rescued dogs throughout Costa Rica and also in the United States and Canada. All animals that are put up for adoption are spayed / neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and in good general health. We take the adoption process very seriously and only give our animals to people who are willing to fill out our adoption questionnaire, share photos of themselves and their home and have no issue with paying an adoption fee. Our adoption fee helps to recover veterinary and food costs incurred by each rescue case and assures us that the adopter is serious and has the financial means to maintain a dog. Our organization would not be able to survive on donations alone. HOW CAN YOU BECOME AN "Angel for CHARLIE”? Contact us to join our team of foster parents. You can assist at workshops or neutering / spaying clinics. You can donate materials, food, and funds to help towards our programs and you can help us by being a flight - or transportation volunteer. This sweet boy weighs just 6.2 kg (14 lbs) and is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly.

Bobby has a non-contagious skin condition that only requires a simple bath once a week. Otherwise, he is a happy, healthy little dog with no special needs.

Mya is a very sweet, playful, and super happy puppy who will grow into a strong, compact medium-sized dog.

She is house-trained and very friendly with both people and other dogs.
Mya will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a well-socialized, intelligent, and athletic friend.

She has lots of energy and absolutely loves to play, so a home with another playful dog could be a great fit for her.

As she’s still a puppy, Mya will benefit from a home that can provide her with a consistent routine and continued basic training. She is potty-trained, but when she is exited she tends to jump up and play-bite, so a home without small children or elderly people would be best.

Mya has already been around cats and showed no aggression toward them

Update on the two starving dogs in Platanillo:

We managed to catch the female and took her straight to SantiVet, where she stayed overnight. She is severely undernourished, but has been dewormed, treated for ticks and fleas, and had some blood work done.

We’ve named her Sadie. She is now in a loving foster home with Lisa 💕 recovering from her difficult time in the wild.
She is super affectionate, seems VERY happy and has great appetite. We’re confident she will be back on track very soon!

The cutie male dog, whom we’ve named Sammy, is still not captured.
However, now that Sadie is gone, he is becoming more visible and staying closer to the houses, so we are hopeful he will be caught soon and can begin his healing journey as well!

GRACIE - the gentle beauty 💕🐾

Gracie was found wandering the streets, skinny, scruffy, and clearly neglected. She probably spent a lot of time on a chain and didn’t get enough to eat. With vet care, good food, and love, she has blossomed into the gorgeous, healthy dog she was meant to be.

She looks like a pure-bred German Shepherd of lighter color, with the most exquisite face that matches her kind personality.
Gracie walks nicely on leash, knows to sit and wait, and is fully house trained.

She loves playing with other dogs and would be happiest in a home with a playful dog friend.

Because of her thick coat, she’d do best in a cooler area (not too hot or humid) and she needs a fenced yard, otherwise she may go exploring.

She is good with children, but her size and energy may be a bit much for toddlers.

Gracie’s elegant presence alone keeps strangers at bay, though she’s not a typical guard dog—she’s more likely to welcome people than scare them off.

“We are renting a villa and property owner will not allow us to fed or offer dewormer. We are unable to Foster and these two are on death's door. We do not know what to do.”

Is anyone out there who can give one or both of these dogs a temporary shelter?

Remember little Nela, the shy pup who melted our hearts? Well, her jack pot has arrived! 💕

Liz saw Nela’s post and instantly knew — this was her girl. When she heard that Nela was gentle with children, the decision was made. Soon after, Nela made the trip to Atenas to meet her new family.

From the very first moments, she blossomed🤍
She stepped out of her shell right away and has quickly become best friend with the family’s loyal Belgian Malinois.

She’s incredibly sweet and gentle, especially with the 4-year-old, who now has another perfect furry companion. 🐾👧🐕

Nela had a very rough start in life - now she has what every dog deserves: a wonderful family.

Big thanks goes to foster mum Mercedes who cared for her and her siblings!

URGENT HOME OR FOSTER NEEDED!

🐾 Meet Nora and Maggie! 🐾

These gorgeous sisters, at 4 months old and weighing 7.5 kg, were rescued by a kind Costa Rican couple who, despite having several dogs, cats, and two children, couldn’t safely care for them. Their unfenced property put the pups at risk, as they kept running onto a busy street.

Nora is the striking black beauty, and Maggie is the sweet beige girl.

Thanks to our volunteer Beth, who stepped in after one of them almost got ran over, the girls are now safe in a temporary foster home. Beth already has six dogs, so she can’t keep them long-term — we’re looking for loving foster or forever homes.

Beth says they are absolute gems: playful, affectionate, gentle, and well-behaved. They’re house-trained, sleep quietly in their crates at night, respond to whistles and “venga,” and are already learning to walk on a leash.

At this age, they’re 7.5 kg but will likely grow into medium-sized dogs on the larger side ( give and take 20 kg).

Both are spayed, vaccinated, and ready to start their next chapter.

Exciting update on Molly’s puppies! 🐾💕

These little ones were born on September 4, the same night we rescued their mother, who was heavily pregnant and living on the streets.

We have two adorable girls and four cute boys.

Right now, they are just sleeping and nursing... but in 5 to 8 days, they will start to open their eyes...
It's a magical time watching them grow, each exploring the world in their own way...

It's fun to imagine what they will look like as adults and what personalities they will develop...

Every day brings new little milestones with these precious puppies, and it's a treat to watch them develop into the unique dogs they are meant to be. 🐾

We usually name puppies once their eyes are open, but if you already have a suggestion, please write the name under the puppy's photo... 💕🐾🙏🏼

60 animals ✂️✂️✂️

Yesterday our monthly spay & neuter clinic took place in San Elena de General Viejo, a community where sadly we receive many reports of neglect and where we have rescued countless dogs and puppies in very poor condition over the past years…

One of them was little Zen, who had been left to die on the side of the road with his siblings.
Thanks to our rescue and foster care he is now a chubby, beautiful puppy — and yesterday he was one of the patients who got neutered at the clinic (you can see him in the photos below).

Sadly, 17 people who had confirmed appointments did not show up. 🤷🏻‍♀️
But thanks to the dedication of Dra. Ligia and her amazing team, we were still able to spay and neuter 60 animals in just one day — that will help prevent so much future suffering.

A huge thank you also goes out to our volunteer team — Licho, Dyala, Dani, Vale, Jorge and last but not least our youngest member Licho’s daughter Ashly, who just turned 15 and is always such a wonderful support.

We are already working on setting up the upcoming clinics and are always grateful for support… whether it’s helping hands like volunteers who provide lunch for the crew, or donors who make it possible for us to operate animals without an owner or with families who have very limited resources.

Every bit of help makes a real difference.
