There are over *700 dogs* at Territorio de Zaguates Oficial, a sanctuary for strays in Costa Rica. And as if *700 dogs* wasn't exciting enough, we have more good news -- they're all adoptable!

Quite cold here in the North East, USA. and getting colder.
Take care of your animals, bring them in!

The polar vortex is sending temperatures plummeting across much of the continent. If you know ANYONE who keeps a pet outdoors, make sure they provide them with shelter and water that isn't frozen as well as extra food -- or better yet, bring them in!

If they won't, maybe you could volunteer to bring their pets into your home for the duration of the cold spell. Pets die on very cold nights without the right shelter. Please keep your eyes and hearts open!

I am very sad and sorry to announce, that I have closed my salon of 9+ years here in Costa Rica (and with a total of 27+ years here doing many different things!) I thank all my wonderful clients and their faithful doggies for trusting me to take good care always. I will miss all of your fur kids as well as beautiful Costa Rica.

MDC ROMANI CLIPPER VAC TOTE, available for sale in Escazu, Costa Rica. $350 firm (Originally was $740+)This machine lifts the coat as you clip the dog, vaccuuming the clipped hair, easing the amount of hair in the salon or van from getting into your lungs and eyes. Creates a smooth, beautiful finish. Has a very long double length hose. Comes with a DVD to learn technique. Has variable level of suction, is quiet and accepted well by the dogs. The attachment for the face of your clipper does need to be obtained from MDC ROMANI in the USA. (It is usually around $35.) I have the face plate for an Andis 2 speed and a Wahl KM 2. (I do not have these clippers any more). I can help obtain it for you. Table it is sitting on included free.

I saw puppies for sale at a new pet shop at Plaza Atlantis (Costa Rica) and wondered right away.....where are they from? I didn't inquire of the young girl in charge......

If you go to buy a puppy....insist on knowing, but will truth be told?

Reputable breeders do NOT sell their puppies in pet stores. Don't ever buy a puppy from a pet store. Save a life instead by adopting from a rescue or shelter, and encourage others to do the same!

Check the chip day! Make sure the info for your micro chipped dog is always up to date. Just takes a few minutes and very worthwhile if your dog gets lost.

All year, I share story after story of people being reunited with their lost pets in the most amazing, unbelievable, and heartwarming of circumstances. I admit I do this to get you to do one thing: CHIP YOUR PETS!

Today is Check the Chip Day. Will you promise me that you'll make sure your pets' info is current with the microchip registry, and if they're not chipped, that you'll get it done?
